To be fair, a lot of things against the rules are done and are just overlooked. PM Dennis if you care about it though.

Sometimes I wish he'd take a look at them and decide what he really wants to keep track of. It seems that every so often people get nailed with offenses that others commit in spades. Depends on the person, I guess?

If you're reading this big guy please take it into consideration.

Who says it is against the rules to say cool? And why have you singled out Arby for scrutiny?

I think he may be referring to this line from Forum Posting Guidelines for New and Old Members:
Quote:
•Do not post ”empty” or useless responses, such as just ”lol” or ”cool.” Only post responses when you have something meaningful to contribute.

It doesn't really sound ban-worthy, but *shrugs*

There is a difference between guidelines and rules. There are 4 cardinal rules and over 20 plus guidelines. Violating a cardinal rule gets you banned, violating a guideline makes you annoying. Become too annoying and you run the risk of breaking rule 3.

Ahh, that clarifies things a bit. Just for future reference, which ones are the cardinal rules?

I'm actually impressed that you rustled several jimmies by using a simple word. But then again, my jimmies got rustled because the OP used the word 'ain't'.

Doesn't matter how many times you post your useless comments on this thread. You will never be as cool as PopeAK49 for being hip before all of you posers.

Hate is a strong word, but so is love and people throw that around like it's nothing. - Tumblr - Internet - I found this on Google!

So... at what point does it become too annoying? Is there a rate of post/time of "cool" that's considered or what?

3. Play Nice! UXB Internet and Halo Maps will not tolerate insulting, flaming or harassing of users. Do not pick fights or 'troll', or post topics on controversial issues such as race, religion, sexual preference, etc. Keep to the topics of the particular forum. As your parents taught you, if you don't have something nice to say, don't say it.

What if it has no key value to the topic whatsoever? Are they still allowed to post it 50+ times? An apt example would be... oh I dunno, maybe MEGASEAN2812's post above mine?

It's pretty subjective, really. In the past I've noticed that if you're constantly trying to get in Dennis's jimmies, blatantly disregarding the rules or some combination of the two...that's when you get blammed. I like to think of it as his own personal 'distance to ban' meter for every member in his head that cools down after a bit. Kinda like a plasma rifle I guess, except in this case you really don't know yourself how you stand or what factors are going to influence it suddenly shooting up.

tl;dr rules are like speed limits. everyone's going to break them at some point but you'd better hope the authority around the corner's in a good mood if it becomes a habit.

Hate is a strong word.

No it's not, there are plenty of synonyms that carry much stronger connotations.
ie; loathe, detest, despise, abhor....
