Should you know how to model if you want to animate? I've tried my best at modeling for the past 11 days and I sort of want to give up. Once I get frustrated I go on youtube and see some cool animations from ODX, T3hlag, and ImBroke. While watching I think "Gee that looks cool" but then I feel disheartened that I cant even model a simple pistol... So is knowing how to model things a necessity to properly animate.
I know that rigging is something that you should know... Edited by DeathByGuardian on Jul 11, 2014 at 07:25 PM

No, but it dosent mean you should know the basics. The more you know, the better. For me, its the other way around. I know plenty about modeling but not alot about animation, HOWEVER, I can do really basic stuff in terms of 3d animation to try to do stuff like placeholders or (hopefully) get a point across.

You can download the weapon models you want and then animate them. You don't need to model the weapons yourself, God knows I'd have hell of a time animating if I had to model all the weapons I wanted to animate.
