Graphical "improvement" would ruin my nostalgia, no thanks

This only happens if you load a thread in your browser and then I delete posts or entire threads. The browser as the ID of a non-existent thread or post loaded before it gets removed.


Not negative to it, actually want to do it plus add other features. But I just do not have the time to make the changes. I didn't write this forum software and the author has abandoned it and actually went out of business. I have continued to patch bugs and make minor improvements here and there but it is not setup for themes and would require a code re-write to make it so. I just do not have the time to spend on it.

Switching to a new forum product would mean losing ALL the posts and information within this one regardless of whether is was a PHP based or Coldfusion based product.

You could make it look a lot better just switching the images and colors up to look more modern without messing with the code, most of the stuff doesn't look half bad. You could probably pull one of those trendy flat designs at least somewhat decently. That being said I'm still against it, dat nostalgia.

What do you use for storage, anyway, if not SQL? Surely not flatfile?

I'd like to see the edit post thing fixed :3

Yeah, that's pretty much the only nitpick I can think of.

I will look into it. I have seen it some times but not consistently in my use. The other thing I really want to implement is to force a preview of messages before being allowed to post them.

I assume you were referring to what I had mentioned. In any case, my opinion is that the website has a simple, yet elegant appeal to it that is certainly easy on the eyes, but also informative and to the point (as it should be). I see many other forums that are plagued by buttons and lines that are so unnecessary.

I like this forum the way it is why change it it wouldn't make no difference.

Forums have been fine sinced I joined in 07 still fine today.

Now the only thing changed I hate SO MUCH is the front page......the hell was you thinking man....

Funny... didn't see that. It was an un-opened comment closing tag in the page pre-load sequence code.

I remember PM'ing Dennis and complaining the last time he changed the forum (as a guess, 2008?). You don't want it to change. I'm totally used to it now, but the transition is always annoying.

h2 vista section still has the old style, which I think I like a bit more as well.

am I the only one who gets major lag and like intense ads everywhere today when I visit this site only? omg so many popups!

I was getting a bunch too but they seem to have gone away after i figured out it was some program causing it.

We do not have or allow pop up adds on any of these sites. If you are getting them then you have malware on your computer.

I suggest you get an adblocker if its that serious.

that's weird... its suddenly gone, there hasn't been anything else running except mass effect 1, but the one on the left showed trolol.net or something so the first thing that I thought was "oh god the site was hacked"



I don't think it is malware because it would have done that for more than just this site only

If you get Pop-ups when visiting the HaloMaps sites then it is definitely on your computer. Google does not accept pop-uo or pop-under ads under any circumstances which is why we use them instead of others that pay better. You can read their policy yourself

You most likely have a browser plugin installed that is generating the ads. Maleware!

edit: I might have found the problem, never knew it was installed on computer, but something avast doesn't like and has found called search protect by conduit may be a culprit

This may come as a surprise to you but IE is pretty much the standard when making a site for a client =P

...And here lies the bad pun I made. Forever to be inscribed upon the locked thread concerning a visual update on the site of halomaps that got really off topic and started talking about windows 8.1. Perhaps in the far future some old forum archaeologist shall stumble upon this bad pun and facepalm, but I doubt it.

I use IE for when I wanna get to sites quick, I use Firefox for everything else

Who doesn't? IE and W8.1 all the way
