Was just trying to reinstall HCE and I uninstalled it, forgetting about the fact that I lost my CD case years ago. Just tried using Ghost's key recovery tool (and V2) and both say there are no Halo registry values found. hmmmm

When you uninstall Halo, Windows remove the registry entries associated with the game. This tool relies on a hash in the registry that it can derive the key from, and since you don't have that entry, this tool won't work. If you can't find it, you're essentially out of luck. EDIT: Here's a post describing the method that I assume Ghost's tool uses. http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=57316Edited by Somone77 on Jun 8, 2014 at 04:11 PM

not like you need the original anyways, multiplayer is mostly dead and CE is used mainly for SP projects nowadays anyways. Google one.

On 1.09 there's currently 2100 people and on 1.10 there's 1000. This game isn't really dead, there's a lot of new people who joined lately. If you want to see a game wich is dead just check out Halo 2 vista, it has 36 servers and 26 players.

I thought the registry was still there even after uninstalling. I feel like I have done this before. EDIT: I'm not entirely sure how the "system restore" thing works but do you think that would work? A system restore on windows may restore the registry entries. You could definitely try, provided you have one from a relatively recent date. IIRC system restores can bring back windows system files, programs that you've removed, personal files, and registry settings. So it's worth the try, otherwise Halo is still dirty cheep. You should be able to find a new copy somewhere.
