'Sup. Had a couple of questions.
What's the deal with the "boat" vehicle type block in the '.vehicle' extension? I've heard a lot about it over the years, but I wanted to go ahead and ask here. Is it useable? Does it have any values or parameters that are hard-coded? etc. (I'm sure Kirby might have an idea.)
Secondly, I cannot enable hardware acceleration, or EAX mode in my sound options in Halo: Custom Edition, nor have I been able too with any of my computers over the years besides my super-old Windows XP PC. How would I go about enabling Hardware Acceleration and EAX in Halo: Custom Edition with my current PC?
If anyone who is willing to help requires any other extra information, like PC specs, just let me know and I'll try to provide them when I have a chance.

There are quite a few maps with boats, for example Hydrolysis. And new sound cards don't support EAX and all that fancy stuff. I remember I had some program that let me enable it but it was very glitchy http://zhtw.xfire.com/video/6045cb/

The boat is there because they had vehicles like the carrot thing and the doozy.

Thank you both for your replies.
@Altis: Yes, I am aware of the maps that have "boats" of sorts, such as Hydrolysis, and I am also aware of how they operate, which is pretty much no different than a warthog on land, per say, except that in Hydrolysis's BSP, the vehicle floor value is set on the same level as the water surface in that map, thus you get the effect of "pseudo-buoyancy," as it were. I was just genuinely curious, however, about that unused "boat" 'vehicle type' block near the bottom of the '.vehicle' tag, as far as if it was broken, or incomplete, or if it was useable in any manner.
Also, I don't exactly want to have EAX/Hardware Acceleration enabled unless it's completely reliable... Do you know of any other methods, or are newer sound cards just permanently null and void? Edited by Bungie LLC on Mar 4, 2014 at 10:49 PM

afaik no one ever got that boat setting to work, it's been years since I've heard of anyone trying it. You'd probably best start experimenting with it and make a thread documenting what you find.

Alright, coolio. Thanks for the input. I might go ahead and start experimenting with that, then, and track my progress (unless someone else comes along with an answer).
When I get back home, I'll go and take a look at Creative Alchemy and see what it's all about. I think DSalimander mentioned the same program to me a few months ago when I asked him. Hopefully this will work out.

Quote: --- Original message by: ActivatedTrapCardI used this thing called Creative Alchemy Universal to enable EAX. Also to get Metal Gear Solid 2 on the PC working at all. :| I just tried it and it seems to be working! I spent quite a lot of time searching for something like that before.
