Long story short:
I have an .mp3 file that I wanted to use as a weapon firing sound.
Converted it with Audacity to .wav 16-bit PCM at 44khz Mono (I've tried 16-bit 44khz stereo, 16-bit 22khz mono/stereo, 8-bit 44khz/22khz mono/stereo, so I've exhausted all reasonable options here).
As the .wav file saves, I open tool and type the command
tool sounds <directory/mysound> xbox 1
and the furthest it goes is to Importing sound message. Which is obviously a lie :P
I've tried doing ogg, I've tried using some french program that supposedly makes the .wav file the right format for tool, I've tried converting in audacity first, then with frenchie stuff, nothing.
Best case scenario I get an additional message from tool saying "fixed corrupt tag enum field (sample rate*)" "the sound tag (sound/ft_fire) may be corrupt"
and It all has generated a single .sound tag of 1KB with no permutations. I've tried setting things in the tag and recompiling, nothing.
I tried a converter tool that supposedly "fixes" the errors, and that tool will in fact generate an ogg format sound tag, but if you put it in-game it makes the map exception at the end of the permutation. So as I want to use it as a firing noise for the flamethrower, it's all but useless in a sound_looping tag, since the map exceptions after about a second of sound playing.
Any ideas here? For some reason or another every tutorial I've followed, regardless of program, never pans out. I follow it step by bloody step until the end when they compile in tool, and for whatever reason theirs works, mine doesn't.
Yes, everything ran as admin, before it's asked.
I can give you additional info if you need it, but I'm at a loss here.
Thanks
