So, I was thinking... wouldn't it be easier for someone to run the game through an emulator, and use TexMod to rip the textures from there? If someone owns a copy of the game, and has the time to do it, please test this out

Because you know someone can just make an emulator for Xbox 360 games. Edited by 1bobsam1 on Feb 16, 2014 at 12:26 PM

If someone owns a copy of the game, and has the time to do it, please test this out Considering that no publicly available, working emulators for the 360 have been made, nearly 9 years after it's initial release, this is highly unlikely. Also, it's a lot more difficult that you may think. The closet thing we've got is a barely functional original Xbox emulator. Edited by Dumb AI on Feb 16, 2014 at 12:49 PM

I've seen them all over the place but from my personal experience, most are either fake or just disguised original Xbox emulators. As for the Youtube videos, there a quite a few ways to make it look genuine. Edited by Dumb AI on Feb 16, 2014 at 01:39 PM

The only way you will be able to get the textures is from the pack files that CEA uses. Creative idea though. Current PC hardware is simply not powerful enough to emulate the Xbox 360 using typical software emulation techniques.
Even if somebody developed a fully functional emulator, it wouldn't run come close to running at acceptable speeds. Edited by _Btcc22_ on Feb 18, 2014 at 12:53 PM

If someone was real committed, they could probably get a good emulator working on a G5 Power Mac, that's what they used as dev kits for the 360 anyway.

Edited by _Btcc22_ on Feb 18, 2014 at 12:53 PM are you on drugs boi? the 360 uses 8 year old hardware, that wasn't new at it's time of release. anyone with almost any kind of computer made in the last 5 years could easily run 360 games.(statement possibly is not valid if MAC.) the ACTUAL issue is that the 360 uses a 480x360 resolution or some crap, so if u were to run a 360 game at a 4k resolution, then u can expect a low fps on most machines.

Neither of you are understanding that there's a difference between being able to run an Xbox 360 game that has been ported to x86 versus emulating the game, as is, in software. It's an entirely different beast.

Another idea, I know we don't really have the skill but couldn't we just do what Saber did and apply a graphics engine over the original Halo PC? Edited by TheChunkierBean on Feb 18, 2014 at 03:48 PM

i'm pretty sure certain affinity did more for CEA than 343i, 343i just supplied ripped HR tags for certain affinity. but between micro$oft and 343i i doubt certain affinity could've published a pc port if they tried to.

I know Microsoft or some company will steal this idea if i say it but... It's too brilliant to keep in anymore... l:3 If in the future some company does this... Imma sue...
Ok, first design a super awesome computer case, crack open an xbox or playstation console, take the parts and shove it into the super awesome computer case that removes the dvd/disk drive space (which ever) because the console parts can do pretty much what a disk drive can do and more), create a program that let's you switch from console to normal pc or use the processing from the pc. Profit? >l:}
If any company does this and i get no profit form it... Especially Microsoft... Imma get Anonymous on there peny-pinching money guzzling cheap-asses...
Edit:
I was just kidding about the whole Anonymous thing by the way.
Also, if they do that, then they don't have to waste there time and money on porting games back and forth and just use one disk. No more "Xbox disks, PC disks, Playstation disks, Nintendo 64 cartridges" Just produce one disk, use one disk. Edited by P3 on Feb 18, 2014 at 06:10 PM

Edited by P3 on Feb 18, 2014 at 06:10 PM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_for_PlayStation_2 PS3 was going to continue the linux support, but they decided against it for whatever reason. You can mod linux onto a ps3 though. Also with the advent of things like the steam machine, pcs and consoles will have some hybrid devices. Afterall, dvd players and blueray players can be purchased as separate devices, but people are switching to using there game console with the same disc reader (hence the xbone TV stuff trying to replace your cablebox).
