Try re-installing? That might to do it. Since the problem occurs to Halo PC too there must be some dll corupted.

Have you re-installed Halo PC AND Halo CE too? Halo CE is using some Halo PC files... If your have re-installed BOTH then idk... Running as administrator maybe? And what error message do you get when the exception occurs?

I'd recommend trying the admin priviliges first like AlekosGR said, but then to try changing halo to only run on 2 processor cores (I had to do that on vista), and if that still doesn't work check your drivers.

Well... There is an AA option menu in your graphics card menu. Try dissabling that. That's the only think I can think of that fixed a problem like yours...

anything Kirby can do?

Have you told it to run on your NVIDIA rather than your CPU's integrated GPU? Right click, 'Run with Graphical Processor', select NVIDIA.

It's my default and I have tried right clicking and choosing that. Weirdly today. It was running as if integrated because I noticed I wasn't at 60 fps and there was slight lag. Mightbe a bootup problem but I'm going to check again as soon as I get out of class. Which is in an hour. Halo pc even has startup issues... Iit doesn't load and I have to end process in task manager a few times

Are you running the game on windows 8 maybe? Can't understand why problems like these happen... BTW, do other games have issues too? Or is it just Halo?

i posted my graphics and OS on my first post if that helps, my OS is windows 7 Professional. and other games don't have this issue ive tried halo 2 vista, and my old 90s game viper racing, both work fine. i mean halo 2 does its normal crashes evry now and then but... duh... it happened on my old laptop

I think I found the problem, one of my optimized settings/force vsync in my haswell control panel was on. heh I guess I optimized a little too far

but halo pc still wont start until a few retries... (a few "end process" tries from task manager) any solutions?

This happens to me sometimes (with CE). I believe it has something to do with either HAC or Xfire - I installed both around the same time but since it only happens intermittently, I haven't done anything to troubleshoot.

My friend used to have a lot of issues with Halo on his laptop and the problem was that after updating drivers, a setting in NVIDIA Control Panel would revert, forcing Halo to use the integrated GPU instead of his 650M. I believe this can be set in "Manage 3D Settings," under the "Program Settings" tab.

Allright that's my final try... Some games have issues with that so that might help you. So, if you have a decent sound card then some games have problem loading the audio and such. Had same issues with my Skyrim game. Just change it to a lower bit rate. Task Manager/Sound/option somewhere ther...

Allright, since both halo ce and pc crashes, yet non of your other games crash, you have reinstalled both games, with still no fix, the problem is 99.9% at your graphics card settings. Check the AA again, and google can be your friend :D

always is, ive done some experiements, lol or maybe I just pulled off a Kirby but I just discovered something. think xfire cant run together with msi afterburner, and since I need afterburner for recording... unless I can find another program that records without any lag... and shows fps, time, and gpu temp

ill have to run a few tests but this may be the problem since halo is running better now

You were running the game with x-fire, the worlds most incopatible software with moded games WITH a screen capture app?!?! Are you crazy! Of course the game would crash! Lol... Anyways, if you dissable x-fire and try to find an other screen capturing app ( fraps maybe? ) I am sure the game willl work fine :D
