Bean here. So I have a problem with my animations. I load the fp models of the Halo 3 Assault Rifle model and the Halo 3 FP arms, but when I apply the animation, the model goes crazy! What am I doing wrong? If its not too much trouble, does anyone have a .max file of Jeese's Foundry Assault Rifle animations lying around? Thanks!

Not sure if this varies per Max version, but if I'm remembering this correctly in my old age, you have to link: "frame gun" to "frame bone24" "frame gun" to "frame r wrist" (the palm bone)
I know it seems redundant to double link the frame gun, and it probably is, but for some reason whenever I personally tried just one (gun to wrist) it never really worked so I just got into the habit of linking to both. At least, I think this is how it works? Can someone correct me? It's been so long, but try this or variations of it and tell me how it works.

Yes this does work with the orginial Assault Rifle but not with the Halo 3 one. Here's what happens with the Halo 3 Arms and Rifle: Edited by TheChunkierBean on Nov 19, 2013 at 10:58 PMEdited by TheChunkierBean on Nov 19, 2013 at 10:59 PM

First off, when you import weapon models, make all the markers 0.1 in size as they don't matter for an animation scene.
Now make sure you're linking the green "frame gun" (found at the handle) to "frame bone24," a diamond shaped gray object between the shoulders.
Then make sure you link "frame gun" to the "frame r wrist," a square plate located within the palm of the right arm.
And when I say link I mean just pure link, using the option giving in the toolbar at the top.

This does work but the right arm doesn't follow the right arm. The bones do, just not the mesh. And how to do for the left arm?

My guess is that the mesh is not "rigged". I may be using the wrong term but I think you get the idea. Edited by Dumb AI on Nov 20, 2013 at 10:33 AM
