I have some custom firing sounds for some weapons I'm making. I usually use the ogg compression to compile them, but these sounds are for weapons with a high rate of fire (like the SMG), and since sounds with the ogg compression stop the other sounds with the same compression (included themselves), the effect is horrible. So, I need them to be compiled in the Xbox ADPCM compression. The point is that I can't install the codec on my PC, (I guess because it is compatible only with Windows 2000 and XP, and I have Windows Vista). So, if someone has the codec installed and fully working, I'd be grateful if he could compile them for me. They're just few sounds, and if you like them, you can keep them and use them as you want, I don't really care about the credits

sadly, I can't help either. But I am confused about the problem you are having with ogg. I use it for things like the ar and smg and it works just fine. How are you compiling your sounds?

The method I use is the same for all the weapons: I open the sound file with Audacity and save it in wav format, 22Khz, Mono, then I compile it with Tool using the settings "ogg" as compression and "41000" as quality, and finally I set up the firing sound tag with all the needed values (pitch, gain etc.)

41000 doesn't seem right to me. If I'm correct, the quality is determined by a number of your choice, between 0 and 1.

41000 is the bitrate. Which doesn't make sense, seeing as you saved the sound as 22000.

Strangely, it works fine for regular sounds (maybe because Tool automatically changes to 1 the bigger values), but even if I compile a sound using "1" as quality, the result is always the same! I'm going crazy! ç_ç

Sorry if I am off topic here but why halo orginial xbox graphics looks better than halo pc graphics?

I really wish we had that orginial quality.

I think halo was a bad port perhaps.
