I am working on a biped, rigged it, made collision geometry, (no open or overlapping edges), exported, got a warning about some vertices being rigged to more than two bones. tool says there are open edges, 15 of them, I imported the .WRL file, says that there are some open edges. So I deleted them and create new faces there. Exported again... same error same place. :\

any ideas? :(

yeah which one is it and as in got the envelopes select bip01 pelvis and drag and drop and make it 0.5

It's already rigged.

I rigged the normal model, works fine in game.

...made a version with no overlapping or open edges or faces.

...used that as my CG (still rigged, animations work with it and all that stuff, broo.

... gives me open edge errors in tool around the pelvis.

...I import into Gmax and zoom in to the wrl coordinates.

... show some faces that are just faces with nothing wrong with them.

... :\

... lots of dots ...

heh, open edges etc are for collision models.

Collision models should be a solid closed part for each bone. No matter if they overlap at the bone's junctions. no rigging modifier though, just linking

PS :

Make your collision model as a set of boxes, and link each box to the respective bone. Apply the material to all the boxes, and export. This should give you a decent collision without open edges

Ok, thanks peoples for your help.

But I have another question, while I'm still in this thread.

Regions and permutations, do I put the other permutation as a separate .JMS file in the same models folder? or something else? Because when I tried that just then, it only compiled 1 of the 2 files.

If you're using Bluestreak v.1.0.1, unluckily it doesn't support multiple regions: it just merges all the regions in a single one. You should use the newer version

^Useful for certain models that you don't need regions for

This has been now resolved, thanks to Rerout. :D

compile each region as a perm, duplicate the regions to the same amount of perms. Then in each region, delete the unwanted/unneeded perms.

Or download the newer version of the JMS exporter (CAD's version) and export the regions normaally

Unluckily it has some problems with Gmax, in fact i never figured out how to make it work correctly: every time I try to export my model, it says: '<<Unknown property: "count" in $Bone:bip01 pelvis @[random numbers]>>'. The old version, on the other hand, works perfectly.
