You can use scripts to export models and animations in 3ds max 9+

Care to elaborate? I've been using 3ds max 8 for the sole purpose of being able to use blitzkrieg (I've had some bad experiences with Ghost's exporter and 3ds max 9). Is there an alternative? I'm asking because I have a feeling that some tedious actions in max 8 may be less tedious in later versions - specifically mapping and precision modelling... of course, im just speculating. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Also are there advantages to different versions?

By the way, the only thing I use 3ds max for is BSP modelling so animating/rigging aren't relevant...
