To understand who complains about ripping/making "non custom content", you need to get into the minds of the trolls who feel map protection was a good idea in the first place. Who were these people? CMT and ZTeam, most notably. Yeah, the people who spend most of their time not making custom content are the ones complaining about others doing the same.

The worst thing you can do is downplay a map simply because it fits an archetype. Judge maps by how much people want to play it, not by what classification it can be sorted by.

TM thinks ports are garbage, despite how well they are done. Point and case. Sore losers will be sore losers.

Ports are not garbage, they can look very well done. The point is however, why spend your time porting over something that isn't your's, when you can spend the same time creating something entirely of your own and getting much more satisfaction out of it that way? Use your imagination rather than using other peoples ideas, models, etc and put your own ideas to work. Lumoria isn't a great example of that, it was never intended to be. But the point is there, and hopefully most people can see where that is going.

Ok, some of you (MartynLeeBall) complains about rips and self proclaiming you've done something custom? No. The real thing about custom is not about remaking something like re-modeling it or putting non-Halo stuff in CE is custom, no. The real thing about custom is the idea, making something with your own idea instead of using concepts from other people and modeling it and saying it's custom.

A real custom content is an idea coming from you even though you are using content from others. For example, a Halo 3 Carbine that has a new use like it shoots cocaine or bath salts and has your idea of it's use and that's custom is.

Custom made is not custom unless the concept was from you.

I was so bored that i had to post this. Dennis, do you have facebook?

What martyr lee ball did was custom. Even though he did recreate models, his models were "customized" to fit the halo ce engine, and optimized for uses such as baking normal maps. He did contribute quite a bit to the community, even though his attitude towards rippers was disgusting.

I'm agreeing with Altheros on this (why this thread ? We can still hope for a change though...), even if I think it's more him agreeing with me (I had arguments with MLB before about this fact).
He is still someone great who provided me good advices and tutorial, it may be a lack of originality or time to spend on designing only.

I'm also against the protection of custom stuff. And when you do your own design you're happy to see it spread and be used nicely

I personally do ports and stuff for my own level of practice. More specifically on rigging and shaders. I was never really good at either but once I experimented a bit on pre made models (my biggest rigging accomplishment was the h4 mc), I was able to improve my methods of doing things. Shaders especially because you have a reference to work with and experimenting with different values yields interesting results.

However, I'm also opposed to protecting maps and stuff. I used to be ok with it but eh, I got over it

Halo: Custom Edition doesn't mean that all assets must be custom. They can be custom, and it's nice to see something new every now and then, but you can create/use whatever you want/need, and there's absolutely no reason anyone else should be bothered by whether you choose to devote time to custom assets or recreating assets from other games.

Now now, I'm animating a port. A live, moving, real damn annoying port. Tell me that i'm a bad ripper.

As you wish, my thane.

12 year old.

So much badassery telling random ages about people.

Do you realize you can be old and retarded more than a 12 years old ?
you certainly think because you turned 13 you can say that, like all retarded kis criticizing what they can't understand.

Actually, I can't think of something you could be retarded like and be accurate.
