You could make some far away land as a scenery object that moves. It wouldn't have to sync since it's just background crap and it'd give more of an illusion of a moving ship

I found this forum, where you might be able to recruit a pirate voice... I dunno. As for the other ship. I love the idea of having boats, but I'm worried of players being stranded in that situation. If all of the boats are on one ship (or worse, shot and sunk in between the ships), then players won't be able to go to their opponents' base and back. Just in case this happens, I think you should also find some way where players can just walk (or epicly parkour?) their way to their opponents. Weapons... Flintlock pistols and cutlasses sound nice. Compared to HBO with the amature machinimaers who bought good sounding mics or actual drama teen/adults who never really thought about doing VO so they give it a shot anyway and turn out way better than anything I've ever gotten from VAA. These scenery/BSP rowboats could serve as a boarding/disembarking point for players who are using vehicle rowboats. yes the rope idea could be fine as it was similar to the ladder down the side of the ship idea L28 mentioned to me. the rowing boats: i was just going to use and alter the ghost physics to have them as a normal vehicle. after having watched the CE3 you tube recording i liked the way the halo starwars guys had the swinging rope animation added (i voted that best map) and had thought about something like that to use as going from one ship to the the other, but that's not going to work as the ships would need to be too close and that would render the cannons pointless.

Something I just noticed - add some fog underneath the water, it looks pretty bad without it. You should also consider tiling the water bitmap more, as its a bit stretched and big. The ship, however, looks nice. Needs more props on it!

Needs more props on it! true fog would look way better and the water still needs work too, L28 just added that for the temp image in the main post. the ship has a few small flaws that are only seen properly when the model is viewed in 3ds max, they are 3 small parts where smoothing needs fixed. also there are a few different props already done and added to the ship, there's also a few other things i'd like to do with the main ship bsp but not until i get portals working, they have failed countless times so far.

By the way, Ally/L28, something I noticed in the CE3 screenshot. I feel like the ship's sunk into the water a lot more than it should, and it's even hiding key parts of the bow (front). Is that on purpose? Take a look at this picture (the USS Constellation at Baltimore, Maryland, USA -I took this picture last spring) besides your ship on the first post..
