I've modeled a revolver that I plan on tagging, but I need to learn how to smooth objects and I need to figure out some good techniques on gun texturing. I couldn't find any good tutorials on object smoothing and I don't know how to really texture anything that isn't low-res (i.e. a minecraft texturepack,ect.). Any good tutorials are appreciated.

I'm not too satisfied with the handle btw.

If you are looking for weapon tutorials I have a complete custom weapon tutorial. It covers modelling, unwrapping, texturing, animating, sound FX, and tagging the weapon.

I also have tutorials covering ammo pickups, muzzle flashes, reticles, etc...

If you are interested you can find a complete list in the OP of my tutorial thread here:
http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm%3Fpage=topic&topicID=42693

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The complete custom weapon tutorial is quite long, if you just want to see certain parts here is a rough "table of contents"

videos 1-6 cover modelling the weapon.

videos 7-9 cover unwrapping (goes over a little into 10 as well).

videos 10-17 cover texturing.

videos 18-26 cover animation (goes over a few minutes into 27).

videos 27-29 cover sound FX and tagging.

The follow-up tutorial adds rails, camo, a supressor, and a useable holographic sight to the weapon from the first tutorial (models and textures). It also changes out the firing sound for a suppressed fire sound, and adjusts the animation for looking down the sights.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I also take requests for new tutorials, I have a short list of requests that I am currently working on. If you have any additional requests please post them in the forum thread linked above.

Thanks Yoda. A smoothing group tutorial might be useful though.

If you would like me to do a smoothing tutorial then post the request in my tutorial thread. I am only taking requests in that thread because otherwise its hard to keep track of them.

If you want to find an existing on try searching "3ds smoothing groups tutorial" on youtube (without quotes). There are several videos that explain the basics.

Ill try that. If I don't get any good results, I'll leave a request. Thanks again
