It was ALL gray, you couldn't even see any green from the motherboard, black from the fan, or see through the grille of the fan blowing into the PC. It was lulzy, but the computer still ran quick Heh, it may run quick but I doubt it'll last long. Either it'll trip out due to one of the circuits being interfered with or it'll eventually over-heat and set on fire. :/

Yeah, I decided to go Nvidia and I got the EVGA GTX 660 super clocked. It's definitely larger than my old ATI HD 7570. Here's a pic of the card installed: Here it is side by side to my old one and my cellphone: I get around 150 - 200 fps in foundry, which is actually quite a tough map to run compared to anything else. It's weird, with my old card I was able to run Modern Warfare 2 at max settings at around 40 fps, which is the same framerate I would get in Foundry with CE at max settings :o

I must say that I am very satisfied with my purchase, and the Nvidia drivers blow away ATI by a long shot.

For years there was a very close arms race between Nvidia and ATI but when AMD purchased ATI and then moved them from Austin to their corporate headquarters they lost over 70% of their engineers and have been playing catch up ever since. Both companies have good product but Nvidia is still ahead in my opinion.

Agreed. I'll probably never switch from Nvidia, or for that matter EVGA. Such fantastic quality.

So far, I've never tried out an NVIDIA gpu product in my life for PC (I only have a 540M for my laptop). Always used ATI and will stick with AMD.

I just always used ATI/AMD since I understand what their numbers mean so I don't have to do research to figure out if a card is good..... not like I actually upgrade my GPU ever (still using my 5870 from when I got this computer)

I wouldn't consider this an 'upgrade' in terms of modernizing a computer, I only got this PC like a month and a half ago. I knew I'd have to get a more powerful card that can match the rest of my system specs. This one does great. I wouldn't say I am a fan of either Nvidia or ATI, but going from user experience, driver software + support, and general value, I'd say Nvidia takes the cake. With the ATI drivers, I was only really able to control Anti Aliasing, Anisotropic filtering, and a few other doohickey's that didn't do much for my experience, but the Nvidia control panel has tons of options, and they are configurable for programs on an individual basis (enable AA on CE, but not another game.) AA on CE with ATI didn't look too good, and it hardly seemed to work some of the time, so I just kept it off, but now I keep it on through Nvidia because it looks sharp and smooth, not blurry. This is my exact PC, except for the great new graphics card i bought and the upgrade to Windows 7 :P) http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c03639067&prodSeriesId=5330773 Edited by Jesse on May 8, 2013 at 04:16 AM

Both companies have good product but Nvidia is still ahead in my opinion. Actually, AMD seems to have, through some miracle, improved their drivers drastically over the past year. Apparently their drivers are now as stable or more stable than Nvidia's drivers now. So I'm actually considering switching to AMD :/ (Oh and @Jesse. The 660's more powerful than the 7850 even without any overclock. It's also slightly more powerful than the 7870. Both the 7850 and the 7870 have a lot more overclocking potential though) Edited by Jaz on May 8, 2013 at 03:18 PM

With my new GTX 660 (overclocked) I get around 40 FPS all throughout the game with the graphics settings maxed out. I also have FXAA enabled through the Nvidia control panel. Edited by Jesse on Jun 2, 2013 at 05:25 PM

That aside, congratulations on your purchase. Glad to know that worked out for you. No, it's not. Well, a stock 660 is roughly equivalent to an overlocked 7850 but that's not a fair comparison. A stock 660 is more capable than a stock 7850. The 7850 has more overclocking potential but if you're playing it relatively safe, the 660 usually has the advantage if you overclock them too.

And what are you basing this off of? Benchmarks, anything? Or just your personal bias? Basing it off benchmarks and information that's been provided by those who have owned both cards. A lot of benchmarks do compare a stock 660 to an overclocked 7850 though which causes misinformation. At stock settings, the 660 wins usually.
