What plans do you have for the forums, Dennis?

Is there anything planed? like overall its a great forum only thing i thing that could improve it is a way of linking your maps to your forum account but thats proberble not in the framework of the site or it'd be too hard

also is there going to be a minecraft section

and you do a terrific job with the website considering your the only one moderating its 99% troll free

As you would be incessantly reminded by anyone with the common sense to read the title of the thread, these are suggestions. People are simply here to divulge ideas that COULD improve the site in some way. If you, the moderator of the site, were clumsy as to neglect that this thread was made for suggestions and not for commands, directly issued to you, that's your problem and you should deal with it accordingly. Whether or not the "Lame or Game" contractors provide the channels and mirrors for the site; There is no debate that a large portion of the memes are poorly structured.

You're defending Lame or Game's memes but you fail to understand that the quality of the meme does not reflect the quality of the site. In my comments on LOG, I never expressed my disdain or disapproval of their assistance in providing mirrors for this site. It's obvious that these advertisements from contractors and conglomerates fund the site, otherwise, there would be no reason of having them in the first place. Though, I appreciate their support of the site's upkeep and have no problem with you doing so as well; I DO have a problem with snarks and kiss-asses. You can appreciate one's assistance without breaking your neck to form incoherent, irrelevant arguments to defend the content of their site.

You, who so often likes to remind us that you are "no longer a child" and have "grown up", should be able to differentiate the two and by blindly defending the content of a contractor to avoid pissing them off, you're acting very much like a child. One of the main things that define one as an adult is the ability to discern what should be said and what shouldn't be. You should also be able to discern what things you say that may be harmful and things that you say that wouldn't be. I highly doubt that the owner of "lame or game" would take insult at the fact that a great portion of the site's memes are sub-par, unless he constructed every one of them, himself. In fact, he'd most likely take that as constructive criticism because, like you, he likes business and he wants to make sure his traffic is up.

A self-sufficient site is not defined by how much someone dishes into it on a daily basis. I've seen plenty of sites that have warranted much larger user-bases and they ran on freely hosted servers. Next thing; A self-sufficient site should have a webmaster or contractor that has the ability to discern a good firm or a bad one. The type of humour that one posts on their site or blog directly effects the demographic and the traffic of said site or blog. If you're tired of "ungrateful children", why would you allow a contractor who's humour would mainly attract children? Period Jokes. Homophobic jokes. Sex jokes. All attract children in this day in age. I've yet to meet a child on Xbox Live that used "Playing with you is like a mental John Wilkes Boothe" as an insult. If he did; I would've most-likely gave him a slow golf-clap and sent him on his way. Usually (if not always), kids use "your mom" jokes and "sex" jokes to establish dominance in online communities. Don't make yourself a hypocrite.

If you're open to suggestions, accept every suggestion with an open consideration. There is no such thing as a bad idea until said idea is put into action. Rather than going out of your way to attempt to insult me by insinuating that i was an un-greatful child, and targeting me out of many who felt the same way about "lame or game", you could've politely indicated to me where i was wrong. Your signature says "We were all young, once, but some of us got over it". Clearly, you were mistaken. I don't care how old you are. I don't care what prestige you bare. "If it quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck." and if it acts like a child, it's a child. Please, ban me now, like you were supposed to do two weeks ago. Assert your dominance, prove a point. Do it. If you kick me from the site, I'll find another one to go to. It's that simple.

If I were to run this site as a business then you would have to register to obtain access to the files, hand over personally identifiable information and even pay real money get access to faster download queues. Your entrance to the Forum would be secured with micro payment forfeit if you are ejected or your email account bounces email.

This website is not a business it is big money suck that consumes an OC-1 worth of bandwidth on a daily basis and it is here because I publicly committed to keeping the game alive when all the other websites gave up and closed.

You miss the point entirely. As the forum owner/moderator in this forum I by default have dominance just as every single forum owner/moderator in every single forum on the web does in their forum. All I ask is that while here people conduct themselves properly and treat each other with respect.

I have never been in a discussion group or forum where people expect or require real-time moderation. I know it is a function of age and experience. I also admit that on occasion I get pissed off when people make demands they have no call to make and respond in a strident tone. So lest we forget why this particular discussion exists at all and why I chose your post to respond.

Yes there will. The main site has been delayed due to personal reasons/time but it is still in the works. I have been debating the merits of how much integration with the forum it will have since contributors will be required to register.

You clearly don't understand what the term contractor means. A contractor is "A person or company that undertakes a contract to provide materials or labor to perform a service or do a job."
If they're offering a service to you, they're a contractor. If it's more than one person, then they are contractors. It's simply a matter of putting an "s" at the end of the word. We call those plurals.

Once again, you're skimming. A business CAN be nonprofit and still demand one's money or regular donation to keep the business running. It may be a "money suck" but money is still being circulated. A business either pays for a service or gets paid for a service.

A site linked to "the cloud" would be sufficient enough. That could solve the problem of storage and the bandwith, at least.

One's position does not warrant respect. It never warrant's respect. History has seen so many faulty "leaders" that weren't deserving of anyone's respect. Respect is earned, not entitled.

Besides not being what I said or meant I don't speak like that except in your imagination and portraying that sentence as as an actual quote shows people just how much of a real dick you are.

The PM system methodology is flawed in that it is not really a message but a "shared" database entry. When I looked into it, it appears as if the original author did not realize that if someone sent a message it could be deleted before the recipient could read it so he removed the "delete" function for sent messages. It would take a complete redesign of the data structures which I do not have time to engage in.
Of course I acknowledge the flaws in the forum just as I acknowledge that you are a dick thinking that antagonizing me would ever inspire or encourage me to do anything you desired. That is just stupid.

This will make any references to these address redirect to localhost and pretty much just blocks them. The alternative is to use Ad Block Plus and blocking a lame or game image and when prompted to choose the domain, select everything from lameorgame.com/

I don't understand why you guys are arguing here about the way things are run. If you don't like it, you don't have to be here. No one is making you post on these forums. You are not entitled to anything. The problem with the most of our generation is this stupid sense of entitlement. No sir, I just tend to appreciate when people give me great things for free. Respect is given where respect is earned. I think you guys fail to realize that if Dennis were to ever shut the site down because he doesn't feel like paying money out of his OWN pocket, then our favorite game we all love and cherish would die.

I also don't see why you guys are bitching about stupid forum gimmicks. The place runs just fine without them so they are not needed.

1. This runs on Cold Fusion, a 'Premium' I.L. with less features and more vulnerability than the average one.
2. Little to no action taken as a moderator and complacent members incessantly defend his lack of action.
3. Plenty of subcategories that would take seconds to make aren't made yet. A lot of people want to see a minecraft section.
4. Lack of organization and no one who's willing to consistently enforce the rules.

I could go on for a while but that's just four stand-out problems with the site.

Then if it bothers you so much then just leave. These big "problems" you keep pointing out are not even that much of a big deal. Trolls will be trolls and they will be banned. It's been going on for the 6 years I have been here. Once the trolls are banned they will use a proxy and come back. Rinse and repeat. Eventually they get bored when they realize no one really cares around here. We're all here to share our creations and come together to keep this game living as long as we can. People come and they go. It's all the same. Really, if you don't like it, go make your own forum and invite everyone here. Fix all the "flaws" this one has. If it truly makes that much of a difference then I'm sure people will flock over there.
