Just a quick thing I noticed: there doesn't seem to be a list on hce.halomaps.org for Top 50 Year 2012 Lists.

Just curious to know if one is coming within the near future. Thanks!

according to that list two of my maps are top 10 and one is top 20

Yeah, ratings are broken.

And surely the Top 50 2012 list should only contain maps that were made in 2012? Doesn't make sense for old maps that were rated in 2012 to be on the list. Just means that the same maps will be on the list every year.

it really should be based on nominations. in its current state it does no give people an idea of what the highest quality maps are. it kinda gives a visitor the wrong idea and makes them think that that's the best we have to offer

Yeah, there were a few things I didn't see in there that were popular in 2012 like The Great Infestation and some firefight maps.

No it is a compilation of maps Voted on in the year of the list. It requires 20 votes in that year to be eligible for the list and the top 50 maps are selected from all those voted on with 20 or more votes in that year.

What maps you like is a matter of opinion. However the data, meaning the number of downloads is not an opinion it is fact. What you take away from that fact can be debated just like the meaning of the ratings can be as well. For example: It is true that not everyone that downloads a map rates it and there is no way to determine if the people who rated it have downloaded the map or even played it. However everyone who downloaded the map has in fact downloaded it therefore the download number tells you more about the map than the rating.
