I'm having trouble with making the linking hierarchy for dual wield smg (i'm just doing this little project to hopefully improve my scripting skills.)

The first problem I had was the right smg had percetly working animations but the left smg seemed to be moving with the right smg but the problem was that the left smg stuff was linked to the right smg's main node so that's what caused it

I then tried to link the right smg to "frame r wriste" and then left smg to "frame l wriste" but the left smg screws up in-game when animations are played on it (and wasted a lot of effort creating an entire fp anim set for them.)

I then tried to unlink from the wrists and then made a new node called "frame gun" and had child nodes called "frame gun_left" and "frame gun_right" and those are linked from all the left smg nodes and right smg nodes respectively, but when I save and reload 3dsmax the model for the smgs screw up, somehow the left smg ends up in the right hand and the right smg is far right of the entire scene (EDIT:: they're named differently. Left hand smg is namd __unnamed_left and right smg is __unnamed_right):

-ignore the top left image hud ammo count problem, will fix that later-

adjust the position of the frame_guns. and try linking the guns to the actual hands, not the wrists. the wrists' origin or whatever its called is higher than the model.

hope this helps! cheers!

Link the parent node of the two SMG's to bone24. Then position the smgs and use link constraints to link the child-parent node of each smg to the corresponding wrists.

Thanks Qwerty and Athritis I will try these suggestions. Only thing is that i've never learnt about how to use link constraints, but I may be able to figure out myself

I know licon, i've seen many dual smg's out already. I just want to make all the animations and scripts myself for it to improve my skills. If I can't make the animations due to this problem in the model then I guess ill just rip them and just focus on the scripting.

Thanks anyway

EDIT::
I don't know what's going on. I followed Qwerty's suggestion and found a link constraint tutorial and it worked. Problem:when i move the left gun's frame, everything works well. But every time when I move right smg's frame I get the same problem as I described at the start where the left smg model snaps to the right hand for some reason and the right smg model snaps far right of the scene. The models have different names and I also removed the __unnamed prefix and tried again to no avail.

The right smg's parent node is acting as if it were linked to the left smg somehow when it's not in the object list
