I started this project almost a year ago with the intent on finishing it, but when I ran into issues I personally gave up. So I came back to the idea of remaking the map and in all seriousness I considered doing it again. I have no set date or time when I could release anything and I lost all the data from last year so I am back at ground zero. I do wish to ask for help though. I know nothing of Shaders, Animations, or anything really. I'm just good at textures and making things look better. If anyone wants to help it would be much appreciated. Find me on Xfire (same name) and tell me what you are good at and maybe we can achieve a goal long forgotten.


Some Pics of my work so far at re-texturing. (I have yet to get to the modeling aspect)

Not yet thanks for bringing that up i might even add some new textures not sure yet
P.s. if anyone wants to retexture the rav hogs tracks that would be awesomeness with served with awesome sauce all over it.

maybe depends on how involved it will be t make 2 versions a opensauce version and a map version

first... that bsp is awesome. I love the sheer scale of RPG maps.

and if you DO decide to make an OS version, let me know... i'd love to see my VISR mode in a big-name map...lol. (man, that sounded selfish...oops...)

Nah its not selfish if i do make 2 versions i would love to have a VISR mode in the OS version

Remodel the entire BSP. That would be a great first step.

Remodel the entire BSP. That would be a great first step.


I can do anything but modeling. There's nothing wrong with the model, just the textures, uv and vehicles.

I still find it hard to believe that the bsp is pushing the limits. I just don't see it.

Redoing the ENTIRE thing is a bit extreme, personally...

However, I'd love to see some updates that'd make playing a lot easier...
Being a remake, I'd think Opsy wouldn't mind if you take some creative license in changing his stuff..
I think the things below'd make both RPing and simply playing the game on the map a lot better.. What do you think?


  • Change the Ground Base's underground tunnels to make them more intuitive/easier to navigate

  • Add tunnels to some important buildings, like the garage/nuke room

  • Make the ladder from the tunnel to the airfield shorter... or make it into a teleporter

  • Get rid of the Runway (I mean... all aircraft are VTOL...)

  • Add a Covenant response to the prowler, fitted with Banshees and Ghosts

  • (When you're at this stage) get rid of the useless PDAs

  • ...and consider using CAG Gonzo's WIP jets and Falcons instead of the crappy F16ish jets

I've pretty much done all of that except 7 and and 4:
I have my own jet vehicle that is in halo canon and t makes sense for the jet vehicles. Also adding planar signs to everything.

if i may make a suggestion: tone down the effect of the ring being activated?

when i'm roleplaying with friends it's kinda annoying. we'll be cruisin' around in the Draco, gettin' ready to MAC-blast the crap out of those dirty blues, when BOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!! we're all dead and that pretty much ruins our offensive. maybe put some '"safe zones"?

and yea, PM me and i'll email you my VISR tags and script

I didnt read anything, but if you are going to remake it, better make water look good. I mean add fog, better shader.

But making a less awkward (and maybe even aircraft-friendly) path toward there and having safe rooms would still be great :P

I've noticed that if you are still underground when the Halo goes off it only takes out your shield, but if you are above ground you die. This may not be true though, because these experiences have been on various servers.

So if you hide in a hole you survive the halo being activated? well that explains how the gravemind on installation 05 was still alive in halo 2!

He got made because of a flood containment breach after the array was activated

Well seeing as this almost died I will resurrect it again anyway since Banshee64 couldn't get the BSP in-game I thought I will take a shot at it and re-texture/modify the tunnel systems. Will also be adding teleporters to certain areas and maybe a Covenant ship or 2.

Bringing this back from the dead with updates. I have begun work on the project again with a fresh mindset. (In other words I lost all the data and was angry so I just stopped working on it, but I wanted to finish it so... yeah) Anyways just figured I would let you guys know and see what you have to contribute to my dream project.

1) Pics of progress are always nice; talk is cheap.

2) Really, I'm surprised no one has tried to make a campaign with this BSP. Of all the multiplayer BSPs people make crappy mods with, this one actually has some singleplayer structure to it.

I would love to see a remake of this map. RPG Beta maps were one of my favorite map series in the CE community. The massive size of the maps makes it so fun to team Role Play on.

Talking to OpsY, he prefers to use the RPG_Beta X name because its better than using the working names. Beta 6 was called Landingpad, Beta 6.2 was called IslandWorld, and Beta 7 was called Curse.

Yeah what I am saying is perhaps you should spice it up with something different, for example make it "RPG *Whatever-name-you-could-come-up-with*" or how about RPG Final ? :)

Sure the rpg beta name is popular, and even if it was never intended to be a series of sort, you could still have it stray away from the, albeit stale name, RPG Beta. Just put it in the read-me that is a part of the RPG Series.

I never were a big fan of rpg beta, I tested out the first three builds with gibbo, and were even up for doing some modeling stuff for him, and honestly, i just get the feeling its just a bunch of half good tags chucked in there to let the player do 'whatever' really.

It never felt consistent. And judging from the screens of the later editions, its just a bunch of really bad design work, and really bad unwrapping. If you are going to make the next chapter, at least aim for something new, or go back to the original ideas gibbo had (Which never got fully realized) There are a bunch of tags and so forth that the rpg scene could really benefit from. Plus these huge maps have a tendency of become very popular (Hugeass, Coldsnap, Extinction and the 'fresh' out of the oven Bigass).
