Hello, howdy, Hi! I was working on a high-ish poly map (dunno how to find the triangle count) but it has 32,000 polies (dunno what's the limit and all but anyways) I was wondering how to increase the scripter memory in Gmax. I have done it before... But forgotten how. Anyone remember?
And while I'm here, how do I/what is... 1:) find out the number if triangles I have in a model? 2:) the triangle limit... For SP and MP.
Thanks
-Robert. (Hobbet360)

I know in 3ds max you go to customize > preferences > MAX Script and increase the default heap memory.
I'm guessing it's similar for gmax

There is no specific poly/tri limit, instead, the HEK tutorial provides guidelines. Quote: These suggested maximum values are guidelines to insure proper exporting and compilation by the tools as well as reasonable polygon amounts for various other technical aspects of the game. Multiplayer Levels: 10,000 polygons Multiplayer Levels: 50,000 triangles

You are wrong, there is a limit. The way it works, simply put, is based on Tagspace. Say you have 23MB of tag space, your available tagspace is 23MB-BSP=Available. For example I have a map that takes 16MB of the 23MB tagspace. This seriously restricts my ability to use custom weapons and such.

True. I haven't played with OS so I don't know what's involved. Using scenery in the regular Engine I can have near unlimited polies, the issue usually comes with Clipping/culling of BSP polygons. Does that happen in OS too? Say you have more than 25 000 polies on screen, the engine starts cutting around?

Rename xfire.exe to xxxfire.exe or something, then OS and xfire will run, but you won't get xfire in-game.

OS is gonna be compatible with xfire in the next update. Kornman confirmed it over on Modacity a while ago.
