You can just add grenade throwing to the actor variant tag itself.

The problem when using AI is they only throw when they want to. So if you force a nade throw (like when you bump possess it), there is no target and the nade will fall to the ground.

Nope.I tried it before.The aim was a bit off but the grenade flew 4 world units per second.

Well, when the AI you're controlling acquires a target, (when he yells frag out or something) you'll be able to throw a nade in the direction of the AI's target. You will continue to throw in that direction until a new target is acquired.

Maybe i'm missing the point, but why not have them throw the grenade via command list?
