Isn't "c" the crouch button?

Its tossing you into the Alert seat. Anyways, there isn't animations for many weapons defaultly, not gonna do much on default maps.

What I find strange is that "print_binds" isn't mentioning it (of course, it might be off screen)

EDIT: Nope, its definitely not in the bind list. Tried "unbind keyboard c", and it would still work. Plus, the way X works, and yet it still has other bindings. The game will remove other bindings if somethings already bound (except in sapien... darn sapien).

You can walk in SP maps with a gamepad, but the chief animation looks like he's running in place sort of. Looks good in FP though.

by pressing C you can walk in alert mode. Would be useful for SP maps only really. Something that could be done with this, for example would be sprinting.

I set C to crouch, I don't understand how people can easily hold ctrl to crouch while moving with WASD at the same time. Just hurts my hand :/

Have you got small hands? I just bend my pinky finger a bit and there is no discomfort.

I've found out how to do it!
Use this command/script in devmode
unit_set_seat (unit (list_get (players) 0)) alert <----- To walk
unit_set_seat (unit (list_get (players) 0)) stand <------ To return to normal

I think it is, here are my config for all games. ;)

Q- Crouch
R- Flashlight
C- Switch weapons
V- Reload
E/X- Use
F- Melee
G- Switch grenades
Tab- Show score
Shift- Sprinting (If there is any)

I think this is the best config. Easy, simple, and they are all right there so you don't have to reach over. If anyone decides to try this config, can you guys give feedback if it's better or not? :)

It is not alert mode, it is standing mode.

Its no mode, its a seat. And its alert.

Maybe you changed the button for it, then.

Already told you that it isn't part of the keyboard bindings. You can toss other things over top of it, but it still activates when you press it, as well as it not showing in the bind list.

Where you using the pistol or assault rifle? As I already mentioned, very few weapons are included in the alert animations. Otherwise, it will lock you into your current seat until you have a weapon that supports it (So, you can lock yourself into crouch with other weapons so you dont have to hold the key.)

It is not alert mode, it is standing mode, when he has no enemy in sight if controlled by an AI. Same as when you see AI-controlled enemies and they are relaxed, unaware of you.

That is alert mode. Know the facts before you put in your two cents. When you press C with an assault rifle, masterchielf uses the alert rifle move-front animation. If you look at him in camera mode you can see that there are no left, right, or back movement animations. The stand mode your talking about is what the player uses by default.

I should probably inform you guys that its the Strings.dll doing this. The default 1.09 Strings.dll can't do it, but the Recorded Animation Strings.dll can.

should be possible, but have you tried playing online with the RA strings.dll?... I've never joined a game with it, but when hosting, clients cannot move (I originally thought that this was so the dll wouldn't get confused on who to record the actions of, but now im thinking its because of the two new keys, that since the clients have different background control schemes, that it's interfering. idk, either way, the few times that ive accidently hosted while using it, it didnt turn out well. You should go do some studies on it before trying to learn how to build your own)

Oh, yes this happens to me, but I changed the keys somewhere because of them wouldn't let me look around. You can see the buttons in the txt file "AnimRecordSet".

im not talking about normal controls, but the Strings.dll's new controls (C for Alert seat, and X to lock walking path (or however you want to label that)). Anyways, do some tests, try with both people using the same Strings.dll, etc. Try as client, etc.

No, really. I changed the numbers in that txtfile, and c and x don't wreck my multiplayer anymore :D
