I finally got everything working, CE, Opensauce, Kornman's GurellaV20, ahoboV102, tool++, the newest HEKPlus (by steelixb), and gearbox's HEK (the original one).
I tried following the UI tutorials (ghost tutorial and DG945) , but I ran into the following problems
Can anyone train me while I get familiar with this?
why am I doing this? Because I want to finish Mangenkyo's H3 UI
so If mangenkyo can help me with the workings of his UI, that would be appreciated too.
Edit* I am running windows7 ultimate via bootcamp (thanks to a bud in the Microsoft student dev program) and it runs halo and opensauce just fine, would I still need to download an xp comparability program for the tools? Edited by SilentJacket on Sep 15, 2012 at 04:43 PM

1) you need to either disable UAC or run guerilla/a hobo as administrator program. Right click on guerilla and a hobo and go to proterties -> compatibility and then tick the box "Run as admin." Now you have to delete the shadow files that may have been created when you saved as non-admin, in the folders where you saved the tags click on "Compatibility files" on the bar where "organise", "new folder", etc. are and then you may be redirected to somewhere in you appdata folder, just cut and paste the tags into the real directories 2) It shouldn't be a virus. If you're unsure, just use the regular tool that comes by default in the installation 3) In you halo custom edition directory there should be a new file called debug.txt, this is where tool/guerilla/sapien creates error reports. Post the last paragraph to us so we can see whats the problem 4) My ui tags for mainmenu creation? Just put ther UI folder in tags folder, but back up your original ui folder just in case I would help you if I could but there has only been 3 tutorials i've ever found on UI menu creation so I gave up and don't really know much about it now Good luck finishing the UI! Edit*) you shouldn't need to. also, I found this tutorial which goes more in-depth in ui widget editing than any other UI tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alrxS0BJcbAEdited by nihao123456ftw on Sep 14, 2012 at 08:15 PM

I fixed the globals.globals, but the result was a huge list of errors, so I just did a complete rebuild of the tags folder, and re-extracted Mangkenkyo's H3 UI using HEKplus
are there supposed to be no icons?
actually, I'll just get this out of the way now:
what I want to change in Mangenkyo's UI
-improve the slipspace flashes in the background -add detail to entering covvy ships -add more detail to the ground/structures -replace the campaign menu master chief biped with one from H3+breathing animation (high resolution, it's a UI, so I assume that I can use bipeds with more detail) -replace current music with ones from the ODST multiplayer disk -fix the Icons (Xbox, or PC,I've yet to decide) -Fix any framework issues (I think he stopped with the multiplayer setup menu) Edited by SilentJacket on Sep 14, 2012 at 10:02 PM
*Edit: Can anyone explain to me how the tag folders work, and how to modify/make my own tags? (like reskinning models, or what elements of the tag folder do what.)
Also, How do I enable previews for the tags?
*EditEdit: -I downloaded kornman's tool++, but when I click on the .exe, nothing happens? -do I need tool++ if I have SteelIXB's HEKplus?
-do I need GMax and 3Ds max?, or is 3DS max 2013 enough?
*Moreedits: Mangenkyo, how did you set up your UI?, where did you put everything?

Maybe you need to run it from CMD like the regular tool You don't need tool++, you can just use the regular tool no, 3ds max 2013 is enough, but some people have been complaining that the newer versions of 3ds max screw msxscripts up, if you can downgrade to 2008 or 2010 if you experience any troubles Quote: Mangenkyo, how did you set up your UI?, where did you put everything? Most likely in the UI folder. Maybe it's best if you just rename your original UI folder temporarily and just extract everything from the ui folder in mangenkyo's ui Also, beware that there's only like a 35 MB limit for building UI maps. If you go over then the compiler won't accept the scenario. If you happen to go over this limit then the only proper solution should be to compile it as a .yelo map using open sauce (using any other hacked tool to bypass the map size limit may screw a lot of things up)
