Well,I need some guidance for making scope masks.This is the image I'm using.

Is there anything I need to modify in order for it to work properly?

Yeah,that doesn't really help much.But I think I can trace it and export it in higher resolution.What do you recommend for this?

Well,I can totally do the tagging part but the compiling part is the problem.You see,I've looked at other scope masks,they are colored white and have gray around the circle/rectangle and black inside the "scope".

I have no idea how to help with your particular situation, and I'm sorry about that...
But, I do want to point out that the chevrons (arrow-ish stuff) below the center reticle are uneven and unaligned....

Figured I should point that out, since it might make your gun hard to use in-game.

I don't see how,considering that it has no effect on aiming.

More like this. 512 x 512. Black = transparent. Alpha = distortion. Gray\white = opacity.

TL;DR.

IN-GAME

Black = see-through.
White = Black.

Yes, the alpha is the mask.

I am strongly against using paint, even for the simplest of tasks such as inverting colors. Well, as long as you save it to a lossless image type I guess that's fine, but it feels that the professionalism is taken away somehow :/

Simple tasks should be done with simple tools.

Not really a good example, and not good on the long run. Why have many tools open, requiring you to do this first in one tool, then do that in another tool? Why not just do everything in one tool. Saves so much time :/

Well,would you go code your own complex all-in-one program just to edit 1 picture?
I only have 3 tools for CE(besides the HEK).I use GIMP and HEK+,including a Bitmap Extractor.

Then use gimp to do everything bitmap related. You'd save time in it if you were familiar with gimp shortcuts and stuff. I use photoshop for everything bitmap/texture related.

For my example above, I was talking about bitmap editing in general, not an all purpose tool for editing halo.

Well,inverting in GIMP doesn't do anything for me.None of the colors changed.Maybe I should go tweak it.

...okay. Maybe I use weird cues when I play. I dunno.
But still, it could be worth a fix (?)

Any way, yes you want to make it like how jesse showed, put that in photoshop or gimp, dup the blue channel and make that alpha, save in data folder in a file you want to see the bitmap in or if you dont have one do something like, "dumb_ai\ui\hud\bitmaps\scopes" and save as a tiff, then open tool and type tool bitmaps "file location" (tool bitmaps dumb_ai\ui\hud\bitmaps\scopes) Then tag to a weapon hud, compile map, donesky.

Well well well. Looks like someone's mad. Hey bro, everyone has their own preferences do they not? We don't all work the same. Sometimes other people work better this way and sometimes the other way. I'm simply stating that you can save time using one texture editing tool. Guess I'm being hated for trying to help.

Ignore him man, you do good helping. Using gimp to do all you need would be smartest imo.
