I messed up campaign. What happened is I accidently installed a campaign map mod meant for halo PC not CE. When I start it up it has all these word color glitches and whatever. So I tried to replace that glitched map with one meant for CE. The problem is, it still loads up the map that is glitchy, and not the one meant for CE.

Namely this happened to three maps:
A10
C10
B40


How could I fix this? I even removed all my maps from the maps folder, deleted the maps folder, and readded my maps. And it STILL doesn't work.

What could be the problem/how do I fix it?

You may need a new bitmaps.map

Why would you need one, do you experience this problem as well?

Well,something like that.The Control Room in B40 looks rainbow.

I replaced bitmaps.map and the problem still occurs. Another note to be made is the mod made you play as covenant and fight humans, and I can still see humans as enemies, meaning that the map file I supposedly deleted is still being read.

Are you on windows 7?

If so, maybe check "compatability files" for any competing files.

i got that problem too when i extracted the tags from the map lol

I'm on windows 7 but I don't run it in compatibility mode, but either way how would I check for that?

what language are you using originally for the game ? are yo usure your bitmaps.map and sounds.map and UI.map matches the languages you are using ?

Yes, all of them are English which is the version I have.

Why doesn't ANYONE try reinstalling. You guys do realize that reinstalling only removes the essential halo files, NOT your custom maps and NOT HEK (even your custom tags are left over and safe :/).

I can't reinstall, it won't fix it since apparantly the problem is coming from a map. Since the map that loads glitchy has the same tags as the custom map I thought I deleted.

Reinstalling takes forever to complete(for me).

Yeah but if you read my reply reinstalling wouldn't work for me since I think it's a hidden map file or something I can't find.

You know, when you open Windows Explorer and navigate to the Halo Custom Edition folder, you would see a button saying "Compatibility Files" near the top of the window? Click on it, and delete everything you see there.
Then,
1. Download a new Halo Custom Edition installer. (http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=410)
2. Uninstall Halo Custom Edition and reinstall using that downloaded installer, and then patch Halo Custom Edition to 1.09.
3. See if the problem still exists.

Reinstalling will automatically take care of that.

I didn't reinstall but I still got it to work. I used Halo CE map manager and it turns out (I don't know how this happened) it was reading them from another folder, I have yet to locate the location of this folder but at least I got it to stop reading those maps I don't want.
