So i was doodling some things and made some biped designs and stuff, but that's not the point. I also did some HUD design, and i want to put them in-game. Now i don't have the cash to dish out for photochop, but i do have gimp, so i was wondering if someone could tell me how i'm supposed to go about converting my .tiff with full alpha completed to a usable hud bitmap tag, i know it's not as simple as switching it to compressed with 32bit color and recompiling, So would normal hud tutorials work for what i'm attempting? so can some people here give me a hand? The catch: i don't have windows media player so any downloadable tutorials that are in that format will be useless to me.

Oh, also i was wondering how i'd go about making it so that when your health has dropped to a certain point a cracked screen bitmap will be layered over your screen. And it won't go away until you've regenerate your health completely.

Okay, so in gimp make my alpha channel and save it as a .tiff and then use the same thing that the other tutorials do, thanks, waffles.

As for the cracked screen effect, anything from anyone?

Do you need help making the cracked screen bitmap or getting it in-game? Either way, I'm sure someone released that "effect" on this site somewhere.

Found it:

I have the bitmaps i'm just looking for how to use them, it looks like all that contains is a bitmap. And if i don't know how to use it then it does me no good. How would i set it up so that it's only visible once you've taken enough damage? So say i'd want it to appear after you're health is half depleted, how would i go about doing that?

Set the alpha channel of the bitmap to all gray (probably around 100) so that once your health drops to that level the crack shows up.

And of course make it be your health meter.

Alternatively you could set the bitmap to be the health flash and set a very long flash time.

Not necessarily. I just want one big cracked bitmap to appear, but i don't want it to appear until your health has dropped to a certain point, we'll say 3/4 of the way down. So now we say our health is at 25% and the cracked bitmap appears, i don't know how to do that, and i didn't think you'd have to make it part of the hud health meter.

I believe this map makes use of the effect. I'm not sure if it's protected or not, though.

From the sound of what was just said it sounds like the map is protected, otherwise you could just rip the scorpion.

I made the original cracked visor and released with a 'tutorial'. Anything else, is people using the same method as i did. However, i've only actually seen one other visor (other than my own), it was made by the guys who made H3 contentment.

Yeah, that was the map in the video, but when i downloaded that map it didn't have that effect. Anyway, could you link me to the tutorial? or was that it up there ^ and i just thought wrong about it only being a bitmap?

Simply download the file i uploaded and edit the visorcracked.tiff to how you want. Use deviantart to find broken glass brushes. If you want it to come on when health is at 1 bar, then don't give it any alpha layer, just compile it. If not, you'll need to decide when you want it to come on and then make the alpha with correct color values.

Please note that using the cracked visor replaces health bars

Noted. So if i were to add a health meter to that bitmap it could have that along with the cracks.

If you gave it the same color value on the same alpha layer, then it should work.

Herm... i seem to be having a problem. When i use my bitmap and give it an alpha layer of a grey set to RGB values of 72 it doesn't appear in-game. I compiled my bitmap, switched it to 32bit color and recompiled, and when i try using it with the same settings showed in the example file in the download you gave it doesn't work. Nothing in-game at all. Any ideas as to what i messed up?
