Hi,

Dennis, just realised this website's missing a pretty useful feature that couldn't be abused.

You noted that this site uses pretty advanced software, and most of the features are merely unused.

Well, I was wondering. Does the software/coding allow auto-updating posts?

This means as in, as you post, the forum will automatically notify you of a new post that has been posted while you're writing your post.

This could be very useful and prevent excessive posts during a rapid argument, as the argument could be finished while you're writing, or you could find that a post that's been posted while you're writing allows you to conclude the argument yourself. :)

I don't think this is necessary, It's not even implemented in other forums I've been to. However maybe implementing a New Edit just like a New Post icon would be better so people can return to threads that have been edited by the last poster.

That would be kinda useless... all you have to do is refresh the page.

I think it's a very good idea. Because we cannot post update after our recent post lol.

Thats a really easy feature to add tbh... It could be added easily, but I doubt he will.

It already does that if you are subscribed to a thread. It sends out an email for every new post made in the thread BUT ONLY IF you are already subscribed to it. If you are making a new post then there is no way to notify you about a post made before yours because you are not subscribed to it until you make the post.

Besides in the time it takes for email updates to be delivered you can just look at the thread to see what was newly added. The email updates and automatic subscription are very often turned off for people because their email address bounces mail and is no longer valid. Originally the forum was set to not only turn them off on a bounced email but disable and remove all posts for that account that bounced email (3 times). NO valid email = no valid person. I turned that off as well.

He means like a notification from the website, like Facebook for example. Or even update the thread automatically. Which would would simple involve a JavaScript script to just every second if there is a new post. Simple stuff.

I dont see why thats needed. Most topics are hardly ever that fast in terms of responses, even release threads.

If you care about other people posting while you are, just open a new tab and check if someone else posted. I do this from time to time when I actually care whether people beat me to it, or if I'm expecting more questions to of been asked.

I think a better function is if the latest post in a thread is editted, it acts like a post and gets bumped back up to the top

What about an auto-save feature?
