Hello all,
I am interested not in making new maps or mods, but just utilizing new weapons like the ones from Halo 2 or Halo 3 and replacing some of the default weapons in the multiplayer maps, specifically the ones that don't work that well online due to lag and/or delay. How could I go about extracting the weapons from maps (unprotected of course or protected if I ask nicely) and compiling the maps again with the new weapons?
Like for instance, I have the CMT SPV3 unplayable map with all the tags and would like to use some of those weapons in all the other maps. Is that possible with HEK+ and HEK?

Rip/extract a .scenario from a .map (and all the dependent tags, usually the entire map) with HEK+. Open the .scenario with sapien (part of the HEK) or ahobo. Add the weapons as .item_collections in the netgame data/netgame equipment section in sapien/ahobo. >item_collections are for multiplayer maps. OR Add the weapons as .weapons in the umm items? section in sapien/ahobo. >.weapons are for singleplayer maps. (i dont know much about that) Save the scenario as a different name .scenario. (Because every map in halo ce must have a unique name. Compile the scenario to a .map with tool/cmd. Edited by Maniac1000 on Mar 27, 2012 at 11:30 PM

I extracted the .scenario tag from Zanzibar_Classic.map which I have in my HaloCE/maps folder. It extracted a bunch of folders and files in there as well. When I tried to open it with Sapien, it said I tried opening a non-scenario tag. I don't know what I did wrong or if I just can't mess with that said map.
Another question of mine is how would I go about extracting the .item_collections from the maps I actually want weapons from?

Open that map in Hek+ Select all tags. Extract with "use existing pathnames/folders" or something like that and "extract recursivly" checked, DONT check "overwrite" Try open the .scenario in sapien.
