I am trying to structure a VERY large, but VERY low poly BSP for a test that I am doing, does anyone know how to fix this error?

The map could also be too big.

If I were you, I'd import extinction & coldsnap and scale your map to their sizes (or tiny bit smaller) to be safe.

Good luck on your projects.

i don't know much about that error, never had it before.
the only mention of this error when i look around is that the map could be too big,
but also that it could mean the map needs portals.

Okay, thanks for the responses. I will try scaling it down later today if I have time and see if the works.

@ally: I don't ussually make BSPs (I do weapons) so I don't even fully know what portals are. Do you know of a good tutorial for them?

Thanks

I forgot the actual number but I think you can go 250 000 x 250 000 x 250 000 in size. actually, 249 999 and it has to be on 0,0,0 coordinates. Also, your error isn't about the map beeing too big (well it doesn't sound like). It says an ELEMENT is too big. what about tessalating a bit? my map was only a box tho and it went in...

Okay, so I got really busy and just now got back to this thread.

I tried making the BSP a little smaller and nothing changed.

I have not tried Portals yet because I havn't had time, but thanks for the link, ally. I hope to watch the tutorial soon.

My map isn't anywhere near 250,000 x 250,000 x 250,000 it is about 80,000 x 80,000 x 80,000 BUT I don't believe I had it at 0,0,0 so that could be the problem. I will try that next time I work on it.

Jawa and I are putting together a sort of "proof of concept" for an idea that we had. If I can get my end done soon then we will be making a video showing it. Then we hope to put it into use in a few maps.

Again, thanks for the responses everyone. I appreciate the help.
