How are the featured maps on the main page chosen? Are they just a random selection of the newly uploaded maps? or are they actually picked out by someone?

Once a week we put out chairs and gather all the Halo Maps minions in front a large white board filled with blown up images of the maps on the website. We make extra copies of the new maps to increase their odds of being picked. Then one at a time each member gives a 2 minutes explanation why a particular map should be on the home page of the website for that week. Some of the members make PowerPoint presentations in advance. After every 20 maps are presented there a ten minute discussion and hand vote to select one from each 20 presented and then a 30 minutes recess for beverages and snacks. That usually reduces the map selection from over 2000 to just over a 100 (104 this week) so we give another 5 minutes to discuss each map.have another recess and hold a written ballot that gets counted and the top 4-6 maps gets selected to be on the homepage. In the event of a tie we hold another ballot until we have no more that 6.
While they are wasting time with that process I just pick the ones I want and put them on the home page.

Can I join in with that process? It sounds entertainingly boring and time-consuming...

While they are wasting time with that process I just pick the ones I want and put them on the home page. That is awesome. For one, it mean that both of the maps that jawa and I made where specifically chosen (not just randomely drawn from a big pile or something) to be on the front page and for two, this is rock solid evidence that (despite popular belief) Dennis does, in fact, have a sense of humor. lol.

Why go for the obvious pun when a factual statement offers a mental pause. Yes the word was selected with meticulous care.
