Well since there is no introduce yourself, I guess I'll be concise. I'm a VFX freelancer, I work with Adobe After Effects cs5.5 and Cinema 4D. I guess my love for halo and shiny objects brang me to think about working on some models in 3ds max. One of my relatives is an architectural designer who works with 3DS Max, so he lent me a copy of 3ds max 2012 (a rented version).
Now heres the problem. I was experimenting with some models I got off this site aka ihalo's halo 3 rips. I was specifically trying to find a high poly master chief, and to my content ihalo's chief was rigged and quite sexy. But the problem is a line appeared in the visor, a line that bisected the visor in half, I guess it was something to do with the reflection and refraction parameters but I can't tell. Also some textures were missing, perhaps that was the issue? Anyways, if anyone has any knowledge about problems like these, please help.

Ummmmm picture plox? Maybe it cou;d possibly be an issue in either Smoothing or UVW?

I solved the problem, it was a problem with the bump maps.
And ODST Nick, check out video copilot tutorials, they help you get over the learning curve of after effects. http://www.videocopilot.net/
