Hi,

I was just wondering if it was possible to somehow increase the amount of particles that can be displayed/rendered by the Halo CE engine, or somehow get around this limitation in other creative ways!

Reason I ask is because it's a little annoying that in larger scale battles sometimes particles and effects don't seem to render anymore, even if the game doesn't actually slow down at all. I understand this limitation was probably put in the Engine due to older Xbox hardware limitations, but it'd be nice to get around it :)

Does this mean the "vanilla" version of OS that will be released in the future has an increase on this limit? Or do you mean I'd have to code it in myself when OS gets released D:

Actually, there is no way to increase the number of particles the game can render, spoken by Kornman00 himself...

That would probably require an increase to the particle game state allocation, which would make OS incompatible with stock game saves, so no.

There are certain offending particles that take up a lot of the available particles, especially in moving vehicle battles - I'm looking at you, gravel_small. I'm tempted to remove that one all together, it looks terrible anyway. It's just made so much and stays on screen for a comparatively long time. Try firing the tank and driving... x.x

Like mentioned above try to reduce other effects in ways that are possible for you,and don't do like most people I've helped,they make particle and contrail textures 32 bit color.

There isn't really a need to make all textures for particles and contrails 32 bit color,as 32 bit color uses alot more memory,which Im sure you know already.
