Hey i am working on making a mac gun for a map, and i thought i'd would ask for some help, i haven't found a model for a projectile in halo 2's files and i don't have access to halo 3's files to see if theres any, but if anyone wants to help out i could use some concepts for the idea. My only concepts for the idea right now are based on the mac blasts i've seen while playing Halo Wars, and from what im thinking i want a halo 2 gauss firing effect on it that id upsize, or maybe put that effect on the projectile when it hits the ground, but i have no concept of what the actual projectile would look like yet, only description i've seen of one is a huge dense piece of tungsten. Right now i'm trying to replicate the firing effect from Halo 2 when the space station is firing, but all i have is the bitmap, and i'm not much of an expert at porting particles and smoke from halo 2, only models, bitmaps and the like. So anyone have some ideas?

Win-serv has a collection of all the Halo2,3,ODST,and Reach map files up for download by free will. Just get adjuntant of HMaps utility section to rip bitmaps.
But you can't rip projectile/decals's/effects AFAIK

eh could i have a link? I prefer not torrenting the maps if i don't have to, i don't have a xbox hard drive hookup or i'd just copy the maps off my xbox's hard drive, i think my only flash drive thats free for my xbox to use is too small to try to store halo 3 on. I don't even like mentioning the word torrent on these forums... Oh and i know i can't rip the other stuff like projectiles and decals and stuff, but sometimes i can open the map in entity and copy values over if they have same layout as tags in guerrilla, but not always sometimes it just has random values for unknown things. edit: the link i leave didn't work, just type winserv xbox files into google, then it will be the top one in the list. incase you are not sure where to find what you need, just click on the section named unmoded maps for various xbox/360 games. the other sections might be useful check them anyway too. You can see the projectiles being loaded into the MAC at the end of Cairo Station, in the room with the Covenant bomb. But after they were fired, they'd be so fast you wouldn't be able to see them, so I don't know if a projectile model is entirely necessary.

thanks I'll look through some of the files and see if they have anything in it useful, anyone else wanna to help make a mac gun? I haven't worked out a model for the projectile yet because i haven't seen one yet but if anyone wants to model one or something I'll be happy to give credit. I'm not looking necessarily for anyone to do all the work for me because i can model and texture and such but if anyone has some concept ideas for me it would be useful. I will have to look at that, i never noticed that before, but if its true then i should be able to find a model somewhere i would think thanks, and that's an unproper quote because i think u replied while i was typing or something EDIT: booyah i present to you the projectile or at least the shell i found thanks to Echo77, i ripped the model form the xbox version, its part of a device, and btw if anyone is trying to make the first level of halo 2 for halo ce still i am willing to port that device cause the animations seem fairly easy. well technically Bungie made it, but i ported it, after that render i made a frame with mc's dimensions, and realized either halo 2 was done on a different scale or that entity doesn't export to scale for some reason, had o make it like 9000 times bigger. On the bright side its going to be a projectile so its not like you are going to be staring at it. Now anyone up for helping me make firing effects and projectile in air effects? cause its not going to fly thru the air looking like that by itself, thats almost as bad as the time i modded halo 1 to shoot rockets that had a model of a boulder.

To be honest, there really isn't a point to have a projectile in the first place, the gun fires at an unbelievably high velocity so even if it is there, you won't be able to see the projectile itself anyways. It would be like adding a projectile model to the sniper rifle or the Scorpion Cannon. You wouldn't ever see it :P

eh, tru, but i might show it being loaded or something, idk, but i already have the projectile ported, can someone plz help out with the firing effect? I'm going for the look of the halo 2 space station firing, and i tink ive got the bitmap it uses for the effect, but other than that i have no idea on how to get effects too look proper, the most i ever did with particle systems was enlarge them...
