So, I'm getting back into H2V, and I was wondering, what mods/projects/maps are currently going on?

I assume you're going to use the H3:ODST bipeds with a MP texture correct?
The H2 ODST's would look horribly out of place in Crater imo. I look forward to it though.

Actually no I wont be using the ODST biped at all. This map is simply a hand made interpretation of the map. Although many aspects of it are exactly the same as the original, many things have been added or rearranged. This map is stri tly being built with working AI for multiplayer firefight if we can get it working. Rigging the ODST biped ajd front flipping faces of the extracted models would take way too long for me to do anyway.

I have modified the existing Master Chief and Elite bipeds to make different bipeds and I extracted all the source files for most of the H2 characters.

There are a few problems:

-Without new animations we are stuck with the MC and Elites anims, the ODST and other marines are shorter and have a few different nodes as well.

-A new biped would have to be designed for Halo CE but with the eventual H2 nodes/markers in mind and placed/labeled/linked properly. This is because we cannot make new .render_models in H2V so we have to use an external app to upgrade .GBXmodels to .render_models.

-Getting all of the models (.OBJs) back into a .render_model is easier said then done, even with regions there is still the problem of the .JMS exporter not supporting the skin modifier properly, there is probably a few ways around this but there were too many variables to test so I could not be sure.

-Even if we got that far we might not be able to play as that biped, only along-side them; as in AI Solo play, perhaps some form of Co-op.

-ZTeam has the ability to extract much of the source we need (to have new functional and properly animated characters) but will not release anything for reasons best left to a flame thread.


So I think I'm sounding a bit like a broken record here but it is not very likely that we will have new bipeds; especially with the current restrictions on some custom tags and the tools we have access.
