Edited by Loy on Nov 15, 2011 at 07:24 PM My first recommendation would be: If at all possible, don't use blender. You can get the student version of 3ds max for free by registering at students.autodesk.com Second: I assume you are either adding verts using blenders version of the tesselate option or you are box modelling (create box, extrude a face, adjust verts, extrude again, adjust again, extrude again, etc..) my advice would be don't. That is a really good way to get crappy models with high poly counts. Instead try downloading these tutorials: Modeling http://www.moddb.com/downloads/model-a-3d-glock-weaponTexturing http://www.moddb.com/downloads/creating-a-weapon-for-sourcethat is a REALLY long but REALLY REALLY good detailed tutorial to get you started. It will walk you through, step by step, how to make this: (This is the one I made by doing the tutorial) As for FP animating, I recomend unevenelefants fp animation tutorial (it is on this halomaps, but I don't have the link right now). It is an excelent starter tutorial for fp animating. Hope this helps, -Yoda

Blender models are highly unlikely to be able to get into Halo.

Don't make to many faces either, but if you have too much, just delete some and weld verts.

Also, you seem to have the overall shape (at least from a side view) done pretty well. Are you modeling up against a reference image of some kind? Try to make sure to add detail for the depth of the weapon as well. A lot of people that are just starting out seem to just make the outline of the weapon and then extrude it for depth, but that really leaves out a lot of the weapons actual details. Polygon modeling (which is how the tutorial I linked to does it) is a much better method and allows you to more easily add detail to the entire weapon. and btw, its nice to see more people wanting to make their own models instead of ripping or begging others to do it. I don't claim to be an expert, but if you have any questions feel free to PM me or add me on Xfire: yoda73811

Edited by Loy on Nov 15, 2011 at 07:24 PM Boxy. Give it some more shape. Especially the aimer thingy on the end of the barrel. Don't worry though, most of my first models were boxy. They still are I guess. Edited by Spartan314 on Nov 15, 2011 at 10:43 PM
