Does anyone have a halo pc or halo ce version that has chinese sound dialogue and string text? I would like to download it for my friend because he bought halo but he doesn't really understand english.

I know there is such a version because I've seen videos of it on xfire

Have you tried changing the locale to China and the keyboard to Chinese? I believe HaloPC supports multiple languages and determines which one to display based on those settings.

That doesn't work, you need a different copy of halo for each different language. I also believe it shows different servers depending on which one you use, because I know I installed the japanese version once, and I only found spanish people for some reason lol (I was hoping to meet japanese people, etc.. I was disappoint) Also, if he doesnt understand english, hes obviously not gonna have a english locale lol. I have yet to find a english program that doesnt run under japanese locale, but I sure have found alot of japanese programs that wont run under english. So ya, if hes using software from china, his locale would already be chinese.

How much japanese does he know? at the very least, he'd understand any kanji he sees, even if he cant understand the spoken parts, etc.

Keep in mind this is traditional Chinese, so it would really depend on where he lives if it suits him.

As for CE, don't believe there is a Chinese version, most Chinese posts seem to link to the English version.

Is there a simplified version available? I found a chinese version of CE on fileplanet but it seems to be taiwan, meaning that it's also traditional.

I highly doubt the game was ever considered for main land China.

are the two styles of chinese pronounced any differently? because even if you get it in the exact language, only real change would be the sounds.map and such; any custom map he downloads will use the chinese sounds if it uses default sounds, but anything told to use a custom sound will still use the sounds from inside the map, which will be english. It gets rather pointless playing a different language, because only non-custom maps/content will follow that language.

No, I don't believe the pronounciations are any different, just the string text. Traditional characters are more complex compared to simplified characters. Mainland china uses simplified now.

It says here you can download a 'Chinese custom edition' but idk if it's fake and idk where you would buy a Chinese version since halos so old
