Noble team isn't even mentioned anywhere in the book, basically becuase Spartan 3's weren't supposed to exist then (or at least they weren't supposed to be there; according to Ghosts of Onyx. I might be wrong however, but I do know that Noble team was not mentioned.) Edited by Higuy on Sep 19, 2011 at 08:15 PM

S-III's were not mentioned in any of the Halo books until Ghosts of Onyx. Halsey was never supposed to know about them until then, either.
Noble Team, in other words, has no backstory in any Halo book.

Bungie has either failed to keep the books true to the story(especially since they made an entire Halo Bible just to ensure that the books stay cannonical) or they themselves fail to keep true to their own story(assuming that they still have the power to set up the backstory of the game) -Zekilk

So basically in whatever instance game canon conflicts with book canon, then game canon wins out.

Which is stupid as hell, as they could have made an amazing story that didn't conflict at all with Reach.

Exactly. I would've preferred to have Reach as the game version of the beginning of First Strike* instead of the horsecrap I was subject to endure.
*The beginning meaning the part where Fred and 30 or so other SPARTAN-II's make a hot drop via Pelican. Plus, the part where the 20-something SPARTAN-II's go off on a seperate mission as directed by Fred and never return. THAT would've been more epic.
