So i'm using gmax, like i do very often, and i go to convert to an editable mesh. i right-click, and it doesn't bring up the drop down menu, i am using a laptop so it has two right-click buttons. i go to use the other, it doesn't work either. i can't figure out what's wrong, does anyone know what i can do to fix this?

Right click on your Gmax shortcut. Go to properties. Go to the compatibility tab. Check "disable desktop composition." There ya go. I had the same problem.

Gmax has worked for the past few months i have had it, and i am sorry to say that your solution did not work. But i quick reboot of my computer last night worked like a charm. I don't know what was causing it but for some reason shutting down my tabs and rebooting solved the problem i was having. Thank you for your attempts to help and i am sorry i just pretty much created a thread for no reason.

I had the same problem (except I didn't have to restart, but no big deal).
