What tag contains the information on a certain material type

For example: What tag tells me what bitmap is used to make the bullet holes on an object using the "metal (thick)" material, or the impact effects?

PLEASE Help Thanks.

A few things control these - unfortunately Halo 1 was pretty scattered around with this stuff.

Globals.globals contains some material information like friction, breaking effects for surfaces like glass, etc.

Bipeds, vehicles and pretty much any other object that can dynamically interact with an environment somewhere reference a "material_effects" tag - these control specific responses for that object when it comes in contact with surfaces in specific ways. For example, they determine what effect is spawned when a Cyborg jumps on water (a splash).

Decals and impact effects are handled entirely in a .projectile tag's "material responses" section. Different effects are spawned for different materials; these effects are generally specific to that particular projectile. The effects then in turn spawn particles and decals and so forth. Decals themselves are fortunately far more generalized and reusable (most are found in the "effects\decals" folder).

Thanks, I noticed the only change is the friction multiplier for ice in globals. That's why It confused me. Is there anything stopping me from adding a material?

ALSO MORE IMPORTANTLY: What about the effects of when one material collides with another? Eg: Banshee scraping the ground of a bsp.

Wait No, Sorry I'm Blind.

Ugh..Where does it reference it? in the object's collision geometry?

A vehicle's material_effects reference is at the bottom of the tag along with suspension & crash sounds and its antigrav/hover effect.
