You could always try a recorded animation. Generally there is enough recorded animations out there to do what you want. For instance: VideoThat was all done with a single recorded animation. You could also attach AI to go with you. The script is also a lot smaller. You just have to tweak the animation starting position.

Alternatively to what Mattdratt suggested, an easy way to get dropships to fly where you want them to, is to mix recorded animations already in the game with command lists.
