I'm not entirely sure if this qualifies to be posted here, but my primary intention in making this program was for using Halo3 content in HaloCE. If it doesn't qualify, then Dennis may delete it.
Anyways....

There are only 3 Halo3 raw extractors I know of, only one which includes model extraction and is available to the public.
Out of all those three, I still don't like the extracting process - so I set out to create my own.

And the result was Adjutant - a Halo3 extraction program with bitmap/model extraction with features I have never seen in any other extractor.

  • Tag Types Filtering
  • Folder Heirachy View
  • Batch Extraction
  • Included meta viewer with built in plugins (excludes ODST)
  • Works on Vista and 7 and XP
  • All files are internal - no internet required

Adjutant is now downloadable from HaloMaps in the "Halo Utilities" section

No, only models and bitmaps for now. Even without sounds it still has better features though.
(I intend to add sounds sometime, but I don't know how long it will take)

Please DO upload sounds. Then maybe even animations! And then we're all set!

Thanks for this by the way.

EDIT: Apparently I cannot extract bitmaps nor models. How come.

As much I would love to do sounds and animations, I cant right now, and I have no idea how long it'll take. Also, just to clarify, that "Lite" version doesnt include extract functions, its just to show you what the app is like. (it says so in the readme)

It's a lite version, just shows you the ui, nothing else.

I suppose I should've used the word "trial" instead because that would work better. Anyways, d4rfnader is right. It's just for UI and feature show.

Will it be open source?

I don't have the legal permissions to make it open source. The extraction functions come from a library which isn't mine, so I'm not allowed to release it's source. (if you want the source, decompile it like I did).
The UI, batch extraction algorithm, heirachy view, and tag filter are all mine. Meta viewer, model/bitmap view/extract are not mine.

Do I ever smell BSPs coming around?

Also how about HUD elements, or those few textures that I could never rip. e.i. 343 Guilty Spark diffuse

Highly unlikely, if it is possible then its probably top secret and noones allowed to have it. I heard xTraction had bsp extraction and is was disabled before release, but I dont know if thats true or not.

As for those bitmaps, its probably possible but I dont know how. There is a way to do it if you extract the raw (.bin) and do something with it but I dont know.

Hmm I know xTraction is all code form Anth0ny [Alteration] which I know he can rip BSPs... but xTraction was an attempt to steal credit..

It had some enhanced features, but there was no credit given where due. But alright seems cool, I'll be keeping a good look on this :D

god i wish xTraction had that feature!

this is only batch extraction though, not recursive. you select a folder while in folder view, right click and extract. it extracts the whole folder with all extractable tags in it (and it only extracts the tag types you have set in the tag filter)

at the moment the batch extraction doesnt always show the output; sometimes it just freezes until its finished extracting, but other than that it works well

I've had resource and partial sound extraction in my BlamLib library for a while now (H3, ODST, Reach, all of the needed tag interfacing is there for them). However, I don't process geometry into any standard format at the moment (eg, .obj or COLLADA). It processes resources in the same manner as the engine, unlike the tools I've seen, which go about it in a hacked up manner.

how is the sound extraction partial? and the bsp extraction looks good, but i dont have the skills to process it into standard formats

no the ghost illum doesnt extract. Adjutant has the same extracting capabilities as xTraction, just with a lot nicer UI and features
