Now im going to ask this question first before i make any assumptions. Is halo CEA using two different engines running at the same time, or graphics layers scripted into the original engine?
Since its running on the same gameplay engine. Would ripping the netcode for co op play be possible?
Could we make slight modifications to the ripping tools we already have to get the new assets from halo CEA?

No it's not.
Halo CEA is Halo CE UNTOUCHED. Same Glitches, same physics, same hog jumps, everything. It just has a Graphics Proccesor over it that displays more advanced graphics of original Halo CE.
Only the render models are different, all of the Collision models are still 100% the same.

Hope for the cutscenes the talking animations look better. It would look weird with good graphics and crap anims for the talking.

I'm going to smack you people because you don't listen. Seriously this is getting rediculous.
Single Player = Original Halo 1 engine with a graphics layer [NOT REACH] running alongside it which allows for all the nice stuff to be renderable.
Multiplayer = Pure Halo: Reach

when I watched the silent cartog demo vid on waypoint I remember the guy saying the classic engine and the modded reach engine were running at the same time, in fact he also said that's what makes this game unique.

I don't remember them ever saying anything about a modded Reach engine running with the original game :\
Where are you finding this?

Quote: Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary "takes the past and makes it better", according to Dan Ayoub, executive producer at Microsoft's 343 Industries. The HD update's cool sounding 'Classic Mode' allows you, at the touch of a button anywhere in the campaign, to toggle between new and old graphics on the fly to compare the remake with the original. Both versions are being rendered by Saber3D, while Bungie's game logic runs underneath. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/310296/halo-ce-anniversary-dev-pc-version-wouldnt-be-a-surprise/

I see, you're probably right there, I was just saying it ruled because I like Halo Reach's best.

Reach was the first on to catch my attention as a good game, after playing it, I gave the others a chance, and they were just kind of boring. except for ODST, that one was really good.

So you don't like all the good ones? Only reason I liked Reach was for the MP.
Heres my fav Halo bundle: Halo2's SP, Halo:Reaches MP.
Btw: What are you on man? ODST Sucked balls. There is absolutely nothing wrong with ODST, it was a fun campaign, and firefight kicked ass.

I liked ODST because it gave you a different point of view, I didn't like Halo 2 or 3, the storylines weren't as good as the original's and the gameplay was kind of stale in my opinion.
Edit: I will fully admit though, that Halo 2 had the best matchmaking and Halo 3 had the best maps, I just prefer Reach. Edited by d4rfnader on Jul 29, 2011 at 04:29 PM
