Well to be fair, how can you be sure that it's a fail? What if he's ejecting the magazine and it has momentum, heading toward his hand which is waiting to catch it? Edited by The Cereal Killer on Jul 24, 2011 at 01:12 PM Because I took the screenshot from the video. It's during the mag-in, right before he slaps it in. In the original Halo 1 model, the clip is already partially in, so it makes sense how it stays there. In this, it's clearly not touching, so that moment before he slaps it in defies gravity. But nevermind that. I'm trusting the capable people at 343 to get this type of rigging error fixed. The new AR model in the new video, which I wasn't aware of prior to starting this thread, looks okay. The gap between the fingers of the left hand and the grip during the moving overlays is a little unsettling, but that'll probably get fixed too. At least, I hope they fix it, and all other similar errors.

From what we've seen, they do not have a new model of the AR in-game yet.
I'm getting so sick of repeating myself: their main concern was to get the BSPs looking pretty, THEN work on the finer details through things like weapons and all that. Things that will only take a week or so per each thing.
(This is, of course, all a guess but something that would seem pretty logical to me) Edited by ODX on Jul 26, 2011 at 09:17 AM

The reason the maps are for Reach is to keep the Halo community together and not split them between 3 games (Halo 4, coming out next year). I would assume it may be possible to have the Halo 1 style weapons on the map files themselves. The number one reason you can't have new weapons or armors in reach is you would need to update everything, but replacing the assault rifle in one map should allow weapons in that map that wouldn't otherwise be accessible in other maps. Let's hope that this is the case.

I would say it's too much trouble to go through. Everything in Reach probably draws from a shared.map like I believe they do in Halo 2 (seen when modding Halo 2 Vista). Things would get redundant having multiple of the same weapon albeit different tagging.
Then again I don't mess with that engine nor Reach so everything by me is [horrible] speculation.

I'm purely speculating my self, but as i recall the plasma rifle wasn't in the valhalla map file in Halo 3 at all which was why it wasn't possible to use in forge. I would assume the shared file is simply to save space rather than copying everything for different maps, but if you have the "new" weapons stored in the map file it self you should be able to redirect the standard weapons to it. Like I said, pure speculation though it would be a nice touch.

YES DONT THINK CRITICALLY PEOPLE
THAT WOULD BE HORRIBLE There is a difference between critical thinking and simply bashing something because it is different to your own opinion on how things should be. do you know who else instantly judges things simply from reading the cover of a book? Irrational people. You've been bashing TF2 in recent months, a game you yourself helped change into the form it is is now, so tell me, with this in mind why should anyone take your word when there is proof that your influence has had proven negative effect on things?

And when the comment has absolutely no basis for its criticism, then it is completely useless. I.e. This game is gonna suck ass. No explanation, and no reason to be said in the first place, considering once again that we have only seen a tiny bit of gameplay from two extremely early builds of the game...

Sorry but, "It's a wip", doesn't excuse it from being horrible.
Also keep in mind it's an obvious uneeded milking of the series, and not a necessary continuation of it, you shouldn't even make up excuses to defend it unless they actually do something impressive.

Derp, it isn't horrible, just has a couple inconsistencies in the 4 month early builds that everyone seems to be going nuts over. It is also not an obvious uneeded milking of the series, tell me you haven't missed all the people who have gone on for years about having CE with updated graphics. To be honest, the work they have already done is impressive, just from the general visual standpoint. When someone makes a one line comment such as "This is gonna suck ass" They say nothing to defend their point, and therefore it is useless, and saying it is going to suck ass when so little actual gameplay has been released is extremely premature and just plain ridiculous.

They've got a few problems, they'll get around to fixing them. They have people whose entire job is to correct things like this, and if a bunch of random guys on the internet have noticed such an obvious error, odds are, they probably noticed it, too.
