So, what physically separates a single player .map, and a multiplayer .map? disclaimer: i don't even know how to make maps. is it possible to extract the tags and place them into a multiplayer .map? basically its possible to put AI into a multiplayer map, so why not copy the campaign ai etc. into a 'multiplayer' .map for co-op? i suppose i'm going to get hammered for posting this. just a thought...

So, what physically separates a single player .map, and a multiplayer .map? For one, MP maps have a size limit of 128Mb, along with the fact that it doesn't use .weapon tags, just .item_collection tags.

disclaimer: i don't even know how to make maps. is it possible to extract the tags and place them into a multiplayer .map? Depends on what tags. As stated above, MP maps do NOT use .weapon tags.

basically its possible to put AI into a multiplayer map, so why not copy the campaign ai etc. into a 'multiplayer' .map for co-op? Because of Halo's terrible netcode, AI do not sync over the Internet. Believe me, many have tried to make Co-Op for Halo (myself included), and have failed. Co-Op over the Internet wasn't even introduced until Halo 3, and even that was just limited to four players.

i suppose i'm going to get hammered for posting this. just a thought...

Just as a note, you can put .weapon tags in MP maps, however because MP respawns weapons and so on, they only appear for a short period of time at the beginning of loading the map - then they unload. Same amount of time weapons stay when using cheat_all_weapons.

Which, in essence, means that MP maps cannot use .weapon tags.
