Okay, so a few weeks ago I was reading some of my youtube messages and someone sent me a message referring to my campaign mod asking if I'd make an encounter similar to this: http://halo.bungie.org/pressscans/haloads/ad2.large.jpgimmediately I had an idea that after I finished my current mod I could a simple but awesome campaign mod with classic tags. Hear me out. I thought to myself that a lot of bungies bsps had potential for so much more in the halo 1 campaign, and a classic map would have much more free tagspace, allowing me to add in basically whatever I wanted, both environment and encounter wise. So my thinking was: a classic type campaign mod that added richer environments, ai tweaking (for toughness), and more large challenging encounters. The thought also hit me that I wouldn't even have to add in any new HD map textures with sorrysoldouts campaign texmod soon coming in to play, which would basically improve all the environments' textures without tagspace issues, meaning all that I'd have to do is place more scenery to the somewhat barren landscapes of halo 1, and then all the excess space could be used for making the best and more challenging encounters in the campaign (for example, more ai on the silent cartog battle, aswell as 2 or 3 turrets, some ghosts, and maybe even a wraith). I've also been working on getting some of the best and most highres models of classic weapons (for example, I've found that most plasma rifles work with the original fp animations, so I picked the best one, the pr from ASCM which I think veex made? and basically made a better looking version of the h1 plasma rifle, which didn't require much work, just some referencing in guerilla, and I used ifafudafi's particles to make the projectile look better, yatta yatta, catch my drift? and of course it still works completely like the classic version.) and basically making the weapons worthy of a texmod like sorrysoldout's, since from what I saw he didn't put much work into the all the weapons' textures, and if he does later on then I can always go back to the original guns. I'd probably use cmt v2 elites, basically since they are better than any elites I've seen and for some reason they just give me a halo 1ish feel. Basically this mod would be a gameplay (mainly encounters none of the weapons' damages or projectiles would be changed) improvement aswell as a very light graphics improvement (most of it would be up to sso's texmod). I'll probably make it either way but I want to ask anyway, do you guys think it's a good idea? make a custom campaign if your going to focus on gameplay. re using enviroments is a horrible idea. while some bsp's might give you some new encounter's, others wont. its best to plan ahead of time, find the best suiting enviroment for the encounter, create it, make the encounter fun, then make it pretty and add in the story.

This seems like an interesting idea. And a great one too.  But what will you do if (for some stupid reason) SOS happens to quit on his project? Not that he will, but you know... just covering all bases.
