So, recently i've gotten somebody to model part of a map for me, looks nice and all too. Here's a few pictures There's a MC model in there for reference, just so you get the idea of the map's scale. Ideally i want the map to be less like a cliffedge and more of a canyon. Current plans are to 1. Add a secondary ground below the higher ground. Make walls around that and have a ramp going to the center of the map 2. Add large forerunner tunnels on the inside of the map for close quarters combat 3. Include a bunch of large rooms inside the canyon for ranged combat indoors. 4. Give the map a name quite a bit of work to do, but my problem is that i cant really model all to well in comparison. Along with that, I dont quite seem to have a clear idea of how im going to make the map look nicer and balance out gameplay along with that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBMTHNwiyWc This is a video from CE3 of all the weapons i have currently to work with. Any ideas of how to tie this all together? Edited by R93_Sniper on Jul 14, 2011 at 10:46 PM

EDIT: Darn you fixing your images. and tie with together with binary, because string and rope doesn't work very well on data. Edited by kirby_422 on Jul 14, 2011 at 10:48 PM

I'd actually trash it if i didnt have a bunch of new ideas for it. Unless you're tempted of recreating it to what i said

It's way too low-poly, I can see sharp edges from here so just imagine how bad it'll look up close.

Quote: --- Original message by: ASP GRUNTS Teaching people to model is good intention, but it takes time to learn. It's easier to have multiple people working on getting the final product done, instead of having to teach one person how to do everything. I know the basics of Modeling and some tricks to cheat and have things still look nice. Problem is that i'm not particularly good at BSP modeling. Quote: --- Original message by: Tiel I think the time spent teaching each person everything when on a team pays off; for instance if your texturer goes AWOL you don't need to hold up a project for weeks on end. Which is exactly why i took it upon myself (as leader of the team im in) to go ahead and learn as much about the mapping process as possible, Thats why i can fix small things here and there that dont exactly fit in with everything else Edited by R93_Sniper on Jul 16, 2011 at 05:20 AM

I don't understand why really new people make map teams when they have absolutely zero experience. You should really only be leading a team if you know what your going, and are going to be able to take up like 60% of the jobs that your members are doing if they ever fail you.

I think we can see why TM is so successful.

New people make map teams because they have absolutely zero experience. They do so to hopefully gain some and also to belong.

The fact that dennis himself posted on my topic is a surprise to me. regardless of that
Who said that i had no experience Higuy? I've talked to you many times over Xfire and my videos clearly show i have experience. Im just working on making things for maps (such as weapons) so that when i release my team's first map, i dont end up having to release WIPs or anything that doesnt look nice

Good point, as I much as I like being solo, I really kind of want to join a team, it gives people a place where they can feel valuable and feel like they belong. And that's what everybody needs, a welcoming community where they feel comfortable and valued. And besides, if you can't do it yourself, a good idea is to get somebody to help you. Edited by Xoronatus on Jul 17, 2011 at 11:46 PM I Second this statement Though the community on halomaps here isnt quite...welcoming as far as i can see. Within Exception of course On a side note, im trying to think of some names for the map. Here's some ideas: Recurrence Breakdown Glacial (if i decide to give it ice textures) Foretorn Inclination If you have ideas, let me know. Also, there a way to change the thread's name?
