Faith is something that Machinima picked up on. Not an actual Halo: The movie

Here's an example of the scenes they'll be doing.</a> Be warned, this is before they put the polishing on so it is rather rough. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EJHbBXQp8gEdited by rassilon on Jul 3, 2011 at 06:35 AM

No, District 9 would have happened anyway, and I really liked that film :)
Quote from Neill Blomkamp on the Halo film: "The film is entirely dead. In the configuration it was in. Whatever happens with that movie, assuming that movie gets made, will be a totally different configuration. It's not so much me as the entire vessel sank. Basically, it was a combination of; there were two studios involved that weren't getting along in the process of making it, Universal and Fox." Blomkamp went on to say that he was aiming for "the most brutal, real version of science fiction in a war environment that you've seen in a while," which gave the studios pause.
So there you have it. Because it was going to do something new, as opposed to some crap game film like ususal. So, instead, we get to enjoy things like Transformers 2. Hurk.
Blomkamp has also said he doesn't want to be involved in any further incarnations of the Halo film, either, because of what happened. Edited by Diaboy on Jul 3, 2011 at 08:11 AM

There IS a fan based Halo film coming out in September time. It follows the story of a team of marines.
Project Chasity.

The reason the "official" movie never got off the ground is neither studios wanted to bear the the brunt of the financial burden. They wanted to mooch off the other whilst at the same time wanted the majority of the income, to make matters worse they would still need to pay Microsoft for franchise royalties. This combined with the financial downturn deterred either from fully participating in making a fully fledged film.
The result? District 9 [one of the best indie films to day] and a trilogy of transformer films, skyline and other various films along those lines.

For crying out loud OP, actually research before you post threads. People don't know that this is not a feature-length film, but a short film. Get it right.
Also, it never got off the ground because first the writers disbanded (I think it was during the massive writer's strike actually), then the script was leaked, then the director/producer left, and finally Fox(?) said it had enough of that nonsense.
This will be similar to the Halo: Landfall short, but it's a short film because it should qualify for around 1/3 of an hour. Edited by DarkHalo003 on Jul 3, 2011 at 10:15 AM

I didn't really like the assault rifle model in the trailer...hope they change it in the actual film but otherwise, it looks really interesting.

Quote: --- Original message by: Cheddars i thought this was cancelled because they didnt have much money so they made district 9 Exactly, to be precise they couldn't get funding because "the target audience doesn't go to the movies anymore". The irritating thing about this it's so ridiculous! I'm still torn whether I'd want a movie made though, I don't think anyone in Hollywood truly understand how to adept a game into a movie yet. Also District 9 was one of the worst movies I've ever watched, which worries me about Blomkamp writing a Halo film.

Hah, I think D9 is one of my favourites - I'd love for him to direct a Halo film, but he's not going to. Out of interest, why did you not enjoy it?

It wasn't his directing that bothered me, it was the writing. That movie made me feel like s$*t because all I was watching was horrible people. There was no one to root for, no real hope to be found. People have argued with me about it being a "realistic" movie, and I can accept that but it's still a movie and I want to be happy or excited to see the good guys win and D9 had none of that.

D9 was nothing like I expected it to be, but I liked it mainly because of the feeling that there is no true good guy and no true bad guy that the movie gave, it makes you think (if you've played fallout you know what I'm talking about), plus it had some killer action :p.
