I'm trying to make a chapter title that shows a name when you start up the map, but it doesn't seem to work. This is the script i have been using.

(script startup gametitle
(begin
(cinematic_start)
(cinematic_set_title tgw3)
(sleep 275)
(cinematic_stop)
)
)

And i made unicode string list and chapter title in sapien and compiled the scripts, and it still wont work.

Any ways that I could get it to work?

EDIT: I actually figured out part of my problem, I was saving the script wrong, and I saved it correctly and it almost works in game. The only problem is that the text wont show up. The black boxes show up on top and bottom but no text shows. I even gave it the unicode string list file in guerrilla, but still nothing. Please help.

Make sure you save you script as a .hsc
Things you can try:
1. Go into Sapien > Game Data > Chapter Titles and make sure where it says "string index" is set to the number you want to have in your .unicode_string_list
2. Go into guerilla or Kornman(whatever you use), scroll to the bottom of the .scenario tag and where it says "ingamehelptext", thats where your unicode string list goes.
3.Follow step one but in the "text bounds (on screen)" use t-425, l-0, b-446, r-597. or go to text color and change the color to white.

I've done all of those steps except with using the text bounds numbers, I will try that and tell you if the text shows up.

EDIT:
Still nothing, could this have something to do with the fact that I am using the UI from the spv2 campaign beta? Or is my script incorrect?

Your script seems right to me, but I would write it in this format:

(script startup gametitle
(begin
(cinematic_start)
(cinematic_set_title tgw3)
(sleep 275)
(cinematic_stop)))

Honestly, I don't think the ui from the spv2 campaign would be a big deal if anything. Are you sure you did step 2 because you can do it in sapien also, which is located in the Hierarchy box > Mission > Scroll down until you see "ingame help text". if that doesn't work go into sapien click on file > compile scripts then save your scenario, compile your map and see if that works. Otherwise it's all I can think of.

It still doesn't work after that script........ Where is the ingame help text option in sapien, because I looked all in Hierarchy window and did not see it. Seriously why the heck won't this work.

Well, I would post a pic but I can't yet. Select the Hierarchy window, scroll down and you should see "ingame help text" click on the 3 dots next to it, locate and select your unicode string list and that's it. If you didn't try this yet in Sapien click on "file" on the top left corner and hit "compile scripts" and the screen should say "scripts successfully compiled" then try it, but honestly I don't know what else to do because that's really all you could do.

Ok I see what you mean now, I just wasn't going into properties mode when I clicked on Mission in Hierarchy. I thought you meant that it was actually under mission in the Hierarchy view. And the unicode string list is selected in Sapien aswell, and yes I have been compiling the scripts and they have compiled successfully. Still nothing though, it's really frustrating me.

FIXED IT!!!

I changed the script to this:

(script startup gametitle
(begin
(cinematic_show_letterbox true)
(cinematic_set_title tgw3)
(sleep 275)
(cinematic_show_letterbox false)
)
)

Please, for the love of God (he really wants this to happen) remove that (begin...) from the script.

Ok I've done everything in guerilla, Sapien etc. but my chapter titles still arent showing up. Here is the script:

(script continuous live_count
(if (= lives 9)(cinematic_set_title "9"))
(if (= lives 8)(cinematic_set_title "8"))
(if (= lives 7)(cinematic_set_title "7"))
(if (= lives 6)(cinematic_set_title "6"))
(if (= lives 5)(cinematic_set_title "5"))
(if (= lives 4)(cinematic_set_title "4"))
(if (= lives 3)(cinematic_set_title "3"))
(if (= lives 2)(cinematic_set_title "2"))
(if (= lives 1)(cinematic_set_title "1"))
)
