which is why 343 is re-writing the core Halo 1 game engine network functions to allow for co-op over MS live.

Wait what? Where did this information come from Dennis. Could you provide a link to this info? Or did you get it from some other source?

Edit: And we are talking the Current Halo PC game engine because if you meant to say something about Halo Anniversary then I will be sadden.

It is Halo Anniversary. 343 doesn't care about Halo PC, as it's a Bungie game, and it's not been supported officially since 1.09

Okay, then what Dennis' said doesn't make sense. Because Bungie already has the network code for the Reach Engine where Co-Op over Xbox Live is possible. Because that is all Halo CE:A is, just Halo Combat Evolved on the Reach Engine.

Also Halo PC is still a "Microsoft game" Since all rights to the Halo franchise belong to Microsoft.

Okay, then what Dennis' said doesn't make sense.
The Halo anniversary issue for Xbox, being workied on at 343, is based off the original Halo engine with a graphics overlay and new code to support co-op over MS (Xbox) live. The new code is required for co-op because AI don't sync over a network connection in the original game engine. The Halo PC/CE engine is based off the Halo 1 Xbox engine and since AI don't sync in the Xbox engine they don't in the PC engine.

I was not implying that anything was being worked on for the PC platform. I doubt there will be as it is not the market that MS/343 is targeting.

The multiplayer is the Reach engine, which is compatible with said game I hear. The singleplayer campaign is in Halo's engine with a graphics update.

It's all Reach Engine. If you notice a lot of the game play footage every thing used was made for Reach for example bipeds, vehicles, weapons all except the Master Chief biped (Which still eludes me why it was custom). The only thing special is that at a button press you can see what Halo use to look like, as in the Halo 1 graphics. Giving you that feeling of 10 years of progression.

Yeah I was wrong, did some digging, found that it was the Original Game play and Physics engine with a graphical enhancement (Which I still believe would have to be some parts of the Reach Engine because of the time it would take to create a new graphics/rendering engine, and if they had actually put a lot of time into it, it may have actually been the $59.99 instead of the estimated $40 it is planned to be.)

Multiplayer is all completely Reach. So you will have Armor Abilities and blah blah blah. I think you guys can figure out what they mean by that.

Just the whole way CE:A is being made just seem really weird to me.

Anyways Back on topic.

Congrats on getting a server up.

I think the said no AAs. Just because it's the Reach engine doesn't mean there will be no AAs.

I hardly understand what you said... What I got was "They said no AAs (Armor Abilities)." The rest is just foreign to me.

There will be armor abilities. You can see them using Sprint in the E3 video.

Around 0:49

They will be in there, no point in getting rid of it, they can just do what is currently being done in Reach and just have a Classic Halo game type where you can play without the armor abilities. Some people like the Armor Abilities some don't, why compromise when you can have the option for both.

Okay from what I've heard I agree with Dennis, its using the halo 1 engine accompanied with a new graphics engine to update all the textures as well as some new code that will allow co-op over live. As for the multiplayer they are using the Reach engine but they are still trying to create a unique experience so it will be similar to reach but more like classic Halo 1 multiplayer with things like no armor abilities.

Yes, it does use the Reach engine for the graphical overlay. They confirmed it, so your beliefs are true. :)
